High Voltage Powerlines ~ Provide More Than You Think...

Electricity provides so much when it comes to making our lives that much easier. I could sit here and list all of the many things that use electricity to simplify our lives but I am going to let you pander on that for a minute......

Times Up!

So you probably came up with a decent list of common things that consume electricity. Hair dryer, toaster, microwave, stove, Air Conditioner, refrigerator.... wait I told you guys I wasn’t going to do that. Then here I go rattling things off like I never said anything.

So these appliances require a rather low voltage in order to operate correctly. So what about those High Voltage Lines... what the heck to they provide? Bedsides making it easier to transmit electricity over long distances while using smaller wire... OHM’s Law... Higher the voltage - Lower the Amps... I’m not really good at education with words, I’m more of a Watch and Learn type of guy. So I am not going to go digging into OHM’s Law at the moment. Plus I would need a little refresher course from @dandays to get my brain resistance to the right level and balance the load.

Okay now that I wondered off course for a bit, let’s get into something tasty and delicious that the High Voltage provided today. It’s not necessarily my cup of tea but some people love it. Yet I don’t know if Squirrel lovers have ever had...

Dah-HAHAHAHA.... Gotcha!!

Wait before I go any further...
yes people do eat Squirrel for those that don’t know. BBQ Squirrel, Squirrel Stew, I have even heard of chili with squirrel meat added to it... but have these Squirrel Loving folks ever had a Lineman’s Delicacy... I doubt it!!!

Now doesn’t that just look like it is torched to perfection. I mean you can’t really cook something much faster than that. Microwave... SEE YA!! Your too slow for me. The arc Flash... now this is how you cook something fast. From the inside out. The Arc Flash this Guy caused is hotter than the surface of the sun and only lasted maybe a second. Just the perfect amount of time for that medium rare squirrel meat, and about 600 people lost the power to their house for about an hour to cook this little guy to perfection. Well worth it if you ask me. Hey sometimes people have to give a little you know what I mean, things gotta catch on fire a little bit... no biggie

I really hope that you all know that I am totally joking. I know I am kind of a weird individual and somehow find humor in this... Hey I am a Lineman... we are a “Different” breed of people. that is all I can say about that... sorry my bad will you forgive me???

I’m kidding but seriously this little guy caused a nice outage this morning for those people that work the 9 to 5 schedule. I can only imagine some office exec, blow drying her hair and ... light out!! Then the rage kicks in, they start flipping out and start making phone calls to the power company cussing them out. Then they are late to work and you can finish the story. I sure hope it turns out good and not the way my mind wants it to go. :wink:wink

All it takes is for this little guys tail to flick in the wrong direction and BOOM... trips the circuit and the power it out. I am just glad this was an easy fix and we got the power restored A..S..A..P... I didn’t take pictures of the damage on the pole and all these photos were taken after we got the power back on. See we Lineman are Respectful, we know your trying to get ready for work, we take care of our customers... but this little guy blew apart a lightning arrestor. That would have been something to see.
