You must become a fool if you must become intelligent

In scriptures, Jesus Christ did explain that you cannot pour wine into a cup that contains old wine. You must first pour out the old wine then fill it with the new wine. This contains a lot of wisdom when you look at it practically in our day to day lives. In one of my classes, I thought I understood a concept until I applied my understanding in solving a problem and the solution was not forth coming. I walked up to a classmate and it was when he started explaining that I realized I had the wrong understanding of the concept.

I had to let go of what I knew, rid myself of it and accept this new one instead. At that moment, I had to accept the fact that I did not know so that I could learn and by so doing know at the end. And that's it. The reason many people refuse to learn new things is because they don't want to accept the fact that they don't know. They can't humble themselves to accept that they don't know sometimes in fear of what others might think, say or do.

It doesn't have to be this way. If you carry such an attitude, then you will end up remaining that way and knowing nothing. And trust me, no matter how hard you hide it, it will one day revealed and your fear of others knowing you don't know will come crashing down your face. It does not kill to acknowledge the fact that you don't know something. I mean, nobody knows it all and learning they say never ends. It might look simple to others but if you don't know it, don't be scared or feel ashamed to ask. It is much worse to pretend that you know only for people to realize later that you didn't.

I have come to believe that you must play the fool in order to become intelligent. One must always carry that intuitive and open to learn kind of principle in order to grab knowledge on a lot of stuff and in the future you will be glad you did. Nobody knows it all and the fact that you don't know something in a particular aspect does not make you dumb in anyway. It's not like the human brain can comprehend all. The good thing is, you can always learn in order to know what others know by playing the fool.

Learning never ends; so keep on learning and improving yourself
