BANNED - Glyphosate, Paraquat and Chlorpyrifos - Toxic Farm Chemicals Banned in Thailand from 1st December!!

(Edited)

Exceptional health-environment news from Thailand today, when it was announced that the toxic cancer-causing agro chemicals, Paraquat, Glyphosate & Chorpyrifos, have been officially BANNED by the Thai government from December 1st, 2019.

This HUGE news comes in the face of death threats against the politicians who advanced the bill, and massive public opposition from farmers who are concerned at possible diminishing yields and no training in alternative methods. Big Agro Biz which makes so much of its global profit off the sun-burned backs of the developing-world farmers as their families succumb to disease and death? They are strangely quiet.

FarmChemicals1.jpgSukan Sangwanna (left), secretary-general of the Safe Farming Confederation, gestures after learning about the results of the vote to ban three chemicals at the Industry Ministry in Bangkok yesterday (Oct 22), Photo: Patipat Janthong / Bangkok Post.

Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul publicized the votes in favour of the ban against those for restrictions on use: 21-5 for paraquat, 19-7 for glyphosate and 22-4 for chlorpyrifos.

Both Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, and his deputy, Ms Mananya Thaiset, have faced harassment, legal challenges and death threats over their championing of this critical health and environmental issue. Kudos to them for their commitment to not only Thai people and public health, but to the global environment.

There will no doubt be legal challenges galore, as Bayer-Monsanto continues to lose its toxic grip in this part of the world.

But for today, we celebrate!! And give a standing ovation to the visionary Thai leaders who have put themselves in harm's way for the benefit of others.

That's a fantastic result! The votes were really heavily weighed for the ban. I wish they'd do that here, because even those who are fully aware of all the cancer cases coming up still don't seem to see an issue with it.

If not from big agro, where are the death threats coming from?

In Thailand they call that "the black hand" - the anonymous hand which has no name and is behind so much evil and threat. Of course to comes from Big Agro. Maybe Big Pharma too. Cos what happens if we stop poisoning people and the cancer wards are empty? Sweet Goddess forbid!!

Thank you! Yes, if a small country like Thailand living in China's shadpw can do it, then anyone can. Sharing the wins IS important - much appreciated. 🌿💚

What a great victory for the people of Thailand. It is with these type of efforts and courage that change will happen. As is usually the case, Monsanto and Bayer are right in the middle of this mess.

Step by step, Monsanto & Bayer are losing their toxic grip in this part of the world. The Thai govt has already for decades also produced massive quantities of generic drugs for Thai people at VERY LOW COST rather than be beholden to Bayer et al. I'm hopeful.

Absolutely great news. I am from the USA and I am concerned about climate change and it's effect on future generations. Globally we must ban together to try our best to change the world.
I have 4 children and 7 grand children with #8 on it's way. When I leave them , I hope it's a better world, with hope , love and charity.

Im afraid the world is changing not with the US, but despite it. The post WW2 glory days are well & truly over. We DO need to work together & stop destroying the world - all your 8 grandkids deserve to enjoy a clean & green planet! 🌿

What fantastic news :-) I wish everywhere which made such good decisions would make a ban on things as quickly as Thailand has. I hate how our gov makes decisions which ban things in like 5 years time. Just ban it immediately if it's wrong!!

Such wonderful and encouraging news.

Kudos to Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, and his deputy, Ms Mananya Thaiset, for their commitment to not only Thai people and public health, but to the global environment.

People hear the murmurs but until Governments hear the people who really care for their land and children, many people stay stuck in what they have always done.

Hope the Aussie Government takes note. Although ~ ! ~

So for now it's really up to THE people to educate others about the harmful nature of these chemicals. ♥︎♥︎⚖️♥︎♥︎
