Less Free Will in this Actual Consumption Society means Less Freedom to Destroy our Planet - Ecotrain QOTW « More Choice Or Less Choice? »

avatar
(Edited)

Personally, being mainly against the mass consumer society currently in force, it is about the choice of our everyday products that I have thought the most and therefore wrote :) In a fairly general way, I will be to make sure that there are far less choices regarding the usual consumer products (food in particular !). From my point of view, all these periods of daily "micro-choices" during shopping prevent us from devoting ourselves mentally to decisions of a more important degree (for example, the state of our planet, our future, the trajectory we want to give to our own life, etc.)

However, as I am a gourmet and a person who is rather responsible for my lifestyle, my health and the environment, I must choose every day a varied, balanced food that is rich in all the nutrients that my body and my taste need ! To face the impoverishment of our Mother Planet's resources, I am in favour of drastically reducing our food choices to keep only natural, organic, healthy and ethical products ! And so : no more sodas, bad food full of hydrogenated fats, fake bread in short, etc., everything I consider to be "plastic" food !

This rather radical point of view will allow us, in my opinion, to refocus on the essential part of our life, which is to live well, to the maximum of our physical and intellectual capacities, because I do not think that we are at our maximum when we eat essentially "junk food" ! This paradigm shift would initiate all the other changes in material consumption because from my point of view : we are what we eat and a person who eats badly, will have great difficulty doing good !

I am therefore in favour of more than a lot more restrictions in our choices, because today, in my sense, having too much free will in our consumption and in this (consomption) society is only having the free will to destroy our planet a little more every day... unless we try to choose in accordance with Life in a global way, not only on the scale of the human being but of the whole planet ! After that, of course, we are asked to review our entire system in order to be able to offer affordable products to everyone, but I think that this change is more than healthy and necessary !

In conclusion, less choice but better products !

I look forward to your thoughts, indignant comments or not impatiently ! If you liked this article, don't hesitate to vote upvote and/or resteem this post!

Be well, Peace and Steem On !

Yours unfailing,
@anttn

@anttn

I REALLY APPRECIATED you looking at this choice question from the perspective of Mother Earth! Soooo important cos yes, OF COURSE endless choice in products creates more waste. A really simple, succinct point, well made.

Oh so true. I'm not sure most people have the ability to grow their own food, but those that do should follow suit. Great article.

I do agree, but so many people are so busy chasing a buck these days the motivation level may not be there. I also feel that if more people were aware of just how messed up our food chain they would be more motivated to do more @ anttn.

This is totally true, what is needed is a complete paradigm shift, about media, finance, the vision of ecology and many other topics... But all this takes time, too much time... maybe a little less with an enlightened revolution (yes, I'm quite optimistic ^^ ! )

On the other hand, many people do not want to be aware of our mistakes and theirs... today, we can either know everything or decide to look away, many seems to choose the second option !

Have good times dear :-)
