Replacing my boot laces with paracord
Ive noticed the first thing that usually breaks on my boots are the laces they came with. I replaced my previous boots with paracord and they outlasted those boots. Now those boots have their sole falling off so I had to replace them.
My new Ariat boots had some pretty basic laces, and upgrading them made sense. I measured out and cut the paracord to the same length as the laces they came with.
I take out the old laces and thread in the new paracord. It has some trouble fitting through the small leather loops but I worked through through in the end.
Now these boots have an extra utility if I ever need cord in a pinch. And also upgrading them with some strong cord to replace the basic laces.

STOPHave you ever taken your boots in to be resoled? I know Red Wing Shoes will replace the soles on your boots. Which is great, because the leather uppers will last damn near forever if you take care of them.

Good point, No I have not. My boots are usually on the low to medium end, making a $80 repair cost 3/4 of the shoes worth. Once I start buying nicer boots that will be my plan. But for now my sub $100 boots just need to be disposed of unless I can resole them myself.
