Grow Food Not Lawns Canada on D.Tube

Video 12:45

It's the end of July, wanna see how much lawn I have reclaimed? Lawns do nothing for birds, bees, butterflies or us! They take a lot of maintenance/water, and you cannot even eat it. Wtf is that shit?

The massive pile of soil I had delivered has been put to great use. Basically the whole front yard, which used to be completely lawn in 2015, is now wild flowers, lettuces, kale, peas, spinach, tomatoes, eggplant, cannabis, potatoes, beans, sunflowers, corn, radishes and hot peppers. I've been working for 4 years and it's 100% grass free now.

Everything in the front yard is edible, either for pollinators, birds (the f'n deer) or my family!

Let me know what you think! And remember, even if you plant 1 seed this year, you are making progress. Do what you can with what you have. Little steps are better than no steps.

The camera cut me off at the end of my speech (serves me right for trying to go longer than 12 minutes)...I just wanted to let you know the amazing feeling of self worth that comes from doing these small changes, getting away from the sterility of lawns, and growing your own produce instead.

If you don't watch the video, I'll also add that most of my gardens seeded themselves! The tomatoes in the greenhouse are all from a few tomatoes left in there last year which rotted and the chickens spread the seeds all around. All of the flowers you see everywhere seeded themselves as well. Much of the lettuce did too. I also don't use any pesticides or fertilizers (the chickens fertilize for me fall-spring).

Here it is on youtube if dtube didn't work for yas!

Thank you for checking into that miss @lyndsaybowes!
That new Steemian is someone VERY interested in promoting homesteading, gardening, and crafts. I thought I would shorten the time it takes to get the networking started ; )

And I Obviously wanted them to see your stuff too.

The shirt was sent to me from my BFF and she got it from her Mom who decided that I had to have it :) I was touched that her Ma supports my chicken addiction hehehe!!!

Ya, I'll be on the lookout for your first vid on dtube since they became their own chain, I synced my account yesterday!

I did the last kitty judging on DT since that happened, but that's it so far. :) The one where Yuan started it and Maggie finished it.

One time we were playing cards with our very Christian friends and based on conversations we were having, my swear over the course of the evening became "rubber butt poo monkeys." :D
