FWD spin out in the mud. Autograss UK

(Edited)

In a previous post i showed the first corner to this race. Clubmate J Ivermee (G17D blue micra) showed me the way around the first corner. A few laps in he had went wide on pits bend, and found less grip. As I came around behind him (G16D red micra) I noticed he started to spin out. In my attempt to keep the car tighter on the exit of the bend to avoid him, the car went wider than had before. It looks like we made contact, but there was none. I think the gap between us was about as wide as a cigarette paper though.

G16D Volvo 2.3 20v turbo 300bhp on macpherson struts

Haven't seen the video (dtube hates me) but I'm wondering how many race this series...Is there many who do this in total and in your class, how many? I also assume you need some form of racing licensed. Here in Australia it would be a CAMS licence.

Try it again. I just had issues uploading it, and with the post itself. I did have the number of cars last year somewhere, I’ll have a look. It’s the most participated motorsport in the UK, mainly because of its affordability. The sport is governed by NASA, no, not that one. National autograss sport association. You have to have a nasa licence, which is issued from one of the 50odd clubs around the UK and Ireland. It’s usually about £60 Sterling per year for a licence, and if you wanted a budget car, in one of the lower classes, you can buy a race spec starter car for as little as £300. On the other end of the spectrum, I’ve seen top cars for sale for over £50k. However, everybody shares the same pits, and racetrack, no matter what your budget is.

Seems like it would be a lot of fun and who wouldn't want a NASA license? I sure do! :)

Thanks for the info. I don't think we have anything like that here in Australia. Maybe the next time I'm in the UK I will check out a race.
