Joey unboxed a Phase Pistol from Art Asylum, and also rambles about it.

The Phase beam technology or Phase Modulated Particle Beams in Star Trek is something more advanced than Electromagnetically charged Plasma Pulse technology, but is less advanced than Phasers or Phased Energy Rectification technology.

Although the Phase Pistol and Phase Cannons of Star Trek usually produce a stream of particles, they probably could be compared to the Phased Plasma Guns or PPG of Babylon 5,
The PPG weapons in Babylon 5 fire a bolt of Helium Plasma.
Also comparable is the Blasters and Turbo Lasers of Star Wars, or even the Proton Pack of Ghostbusters, where the Proton Pack creates a particle beam from positively charged hydrogen plasma.
