How does Steemhunt's Hunt token curation works? If the pending payout does not reach Steem's payout threshold ($0.02), will the authors receive the Hunt tokens?

Practical example: I currently need to cast a 33% upvote to give 1 Hunt token to authors on Steemhunt. My 100% upvote worth 3.04 Hunt tokens, but the value of my upvote is approximately (usually less than) $0.01 in both cases, so it is less than the payout threshold ($0.02) of the Steem blockchain. I upvoted two comments (from different users, but under the same hunt) with 33% upvotes, so I (theoretically) gave 1 Hunt token to both of the users. But if no one else will upvote their comments, will they receive the Hunt token at the time of the payout?

  • Yes, they will receive 1 Hunt token for their comments, because the Hunt token reward distribution is independent from the payout threshold ($0.02) of the Steem blockchain.

  • No, they will not receive it.

  • I don't know whether they will receive it or not.

Answer the question at dpoll.xyz.

Steemhunt upvotes the top 50 [qualifying] hunts each day. With its Steem Power stake. Hunts are not rewarded with HUNT tokens, irrelevantly of the final payout.

If you opted to convert rewards to HUNT (steemhunt automatically set as beneficiary) then this mechanism kicks ONLY in if there is an actual payout by the Steem blockchain. So if dustvote threshold not reached, there will not be a payout by Steem and not conversion to HUNT will happen either because chain payout = 0.

EDIT: what do you mean with 33% for 1HUNT? Do you mean 1 point for the hunt score/comment score? That is not the reward, that is the Hunt score which is used for the daily ranking.

When I vote with 100%, it currently shows "100% (+3.04, $0.01)". Is that not the Hunt token amount I gave to authors? Then I probably misunderstood the whole thing. I thought I gave 1 Hunt token to them. What is the meaning of the daily ranking? What is the daily ranking used for? Sorry for the questions. Looks like currently I am an absolute noob for Steemhunt.

[Steemhunt moderator here]

3.04 is the “hunt score”, which results in the total score for a hunt at the end of the ranking window (midnight Korean time). It is not a reward in HUNT. You can’t eat more about that in this solid recap by Steemhunt community manager @jayplayco.

Steemhunt resets, read starts a new ranking window, every 24 hours. At the end of that window, an upvote on a hunt will not increase its score anymore. The steemhunt bot will then upvote the top 50 qualifying hunts for that day (and also comments) with its steem power.
Steemhunt currently has no rewards mechanic for HUNT in the same spirit it exists in tribes. Steemhunt created it’s own system before tribes even were launched.

You can earn HUNT from upvoting hunts, from sharing hunts (using your referrer or the social share buttons below a hunt) on social media or other sites [works best with recent hunts] or by participating to reviewhunt campaigns.

Thank you for the detailed answer, now I understand. This question of mine on dPoll is a complete misunderstanding. But looks like I am not alone. One person already voted for "Yes, they will receive 1 Hunt token for their comments, because the Hunt token reward distribution is independent from the payout threshold ($0.02) of the Steem blockchain."
I see in my Steemhunt wallet that I am earning a small amount of (usually less than 1) Hunt token for certain/given days both for voting contribution and for comment voting contribution.

"Yes" would apply if Steemhunt were a Scot token (earn for using tags, pretty much).

But Steemhunt created, and introduced, its token before Steem-Engine was introduced. Steemhunt's whole mechanic is independent of Scot/SE, complete with an own user "reputation"/"stake" system. If everything goes as planned "some day" we will actually see SMTs and then Steemhunt will consider to bring HUNT to the SMT platform as was always the plan. I say "will consider" because obviously they need to analyse the initial capabilities of the first "SMT lite" release.

That would certainly/definitely make things much more interesting. Multiple dApps and Steem based projects are planning to do something with SMTs.

You are confusing Hunt Score with Hunt Token. The amount displayed is the score for daily rankings. You receive Hunt Tokens for using the shuffle button, using the Chrome Extension, Delegating SP, Voting and other promotional work.

Steemhunt user score is a measurable index that demonstrates how a hunter is contributing to the value of Steemhunt platform.

User Score = (1) HUNT Power Score X (2) Contribution Score
HUNT Power Score (HPS) indicates how much of a stake in the HUNT token you have compared to other users at this moment.
Contribution Score (CS) shows your activity-wide contributions in the community compared to other users. It calculates the user’s activities over the last 30 days based on 4 subcategories - credibility (trustworthiness of the account), activity (how active in Steemhunt), curation (upvoting in an adding-value way), and hunter (valuable hunts/comments the user has posted).
Since both scores are determined based on the performance of other users, your user score may vary everyday. In other words, your user score may be decreased when other users achieve a higher performance than you, even if you have maintained the same amount of HUNT power and contribution activities. The max score is 10.

Thank you also to you for the detailed explanation. @fknmayhem (a Steemhunt moderator) already explained how the things are currently works on Steemhunt, so now I understand. This dPoll question of mine is a complete misunderstanding. I used Steemhunt for months in a belief that I give a certain amount of Hunt tokens to the authors, but now I know that that is not the case on Steemhunt.
