Thought Provoking - 100% organic farming would boost emissions
A very thought provoking piece which if nothing else highlights the need to dig deeper into a 'process' when determining its merits.
As a long time campaigner against the organic farming advocates, I feel a little justified this morning as I read this piece from the BBC.
Now, before you start, understand that that this is simply about the effects of 100%Organic farming and NOT how people may, or may not do to amend their diets. I will just say that a majority plant based diet would be the best thing for the planet and environment but that falls outside the remit of this research.
Food miles are a massive issue regards carbon emissions and as such would climb dramatically if the UK went 100% organic as we would not be able to produce enough food and would there fore need to import a whole lot more as yields from organic farming are considerably less than they are by producing food using the current model.
