While there initially seemed to be some quietness over the officiating of the Liverpool vs Manchester City match last weekend, City management have taken their greviances against the center referee to the referees chief, Mike Riley. Their letter bears complaints about referee Michael Oliver overlooking obvious Liverpool's fouls and infringements against City players.

The VAR issue is also not an exception in their appeal, but despite several complaints about the controversial decisions of VAR in the game, Riley believes VAR still serves its purpose in making the right call among match officials this season than it has been before now.

The only thing that might take VAR off the epl is if there is a significant agreement among club managements to scrap it.
