Only one New York Met position player ever won rookie of the year award.  It is expected that, Monday night, a second will have it.

Darryl Strawberry took home the award in 1983.  Three years later, the team won the World Series. Brodie Van Wagenen hopes his Mets follow the same path as Frank Cashen's.

Strawberry had some advice for Pete Alonso.  He said that it is important for Pete to develop into the player he can be, not what others want him to be.

Alonso had a terrific rookie season, slugging 53 homeruns and 30 doubles.  He set the major league record for HRs by a rookie while also being the first to lead the league in HRs as a rookie.

There will be huge expectations on Pete going into next season.
