People Worldwide Are Taking Up Meditation To Uplift Themselves, Kids Too Are Benefiting

I wonder why the Chinese government would ban an innocuous practice that actually promotes its citizens' well being.

Carl Marx the founder of communism, viewed religion as the opium of the people. In the Marxist-Leninist interpretation of the Marxist theory, religion is seen as a believe system that hinders human development. Consequently many of the communist leaders formulated rules introducing state atheism.

Certainly Marx did not object to spirituality. In fact in his book "Wages of Labour" he wrote: "To develop in greater spiritual freedom, a people must break their bondage to their bodily needs—they must cease to be the slaves of the body. They must, above all, have time at their disposal for spiritual creative activity and spiritual enjoyment."

Given the above position taken by Marx, it doesn't make sense why China would ban a spiritual meditation practice called Falun Dafa.

The banning of religions by China is understandable given the stance on religion taken by Marx and the communist leaders who followed him. But to ban a spiritual practice which, unlike some religions, does not teach separatism or superiority among human beings, but actually fosters unity, is confounding.
