Nevada fighting to keep 'zombie deer' from entering state | Daily Mail Online
(Edited)
Calling them "zombie deer" may sound like a weird idea for a bad horror movie but wildlife state officials are trying to keep them out of the U.S. state of Nevada.
These are deer and elk stricken with chronic wasting disease, a highly contagious and terminal disorder that causes symptoms such as lack of fear of humans, lack of energy, weakness and thinness, a local newspaper, "The Las Vegas Sun", reported.
Wildlife officials are testing dead animals and monitoring the migratory deer and elk at the state border with Utah for signs of the disease. Kansas, Colorado and Wyoming are other states having reported with infected animals.
