Alagba is dead

Alagba was the world oldest tortoise. It lived about 344 years and served almost 20 kings in the Palace of Ogbomoso.

It was brought into the palace during the reign of the third king in the year 1770. 

Alagba had its own domestic staff and ate foods that humans eat; pounded yam, rice, amala, fruits, soft drinks and sometimes grass. It takes its bath every Saturday.

Alagba will be missed in the palace.
