Is MAGA Fascist?

I've only got a short post for you today, dear readers, but I make it up with a somewhat longer video for you to watch. And it's a video about one of the most important issues of our time, in my opinion at least; the continuing rise of fascism in America. Even if the Fascist in Chief is voted out on office in November, Trump's presidency has served as a rude awakening to the fact that the country is primed for fascist movements to become relevant. I've already discussed on several occasions how fascism is a far-right reactionary ideology or movement against upcoming leftist movements, how fascism relies on a mythic past of a nation in crisis, and how fascist leaders promise a return to that imagined past when the nation still was great and when its people still held their own traditions.

Today's video examines the possibility that MAGA is a fascist movement. It asks the question and answers it in the affirmative. "Make America Great Again" is a slogan brought by an authoritarian strongman in which all of the above stated promises are present. It also reeks of the ultra-nationalism that's associated with fascist movements like the Proud Boys. The video also rightly tries to remove the taboo on calling Trump and his movement fascist. At some point it becomes counterproductive, dangerous even to NOT call them what they are, and they are fascist, pure and simple. If you've been following me and reading my posts for the past 2 or 3 years, you can see it took me quite some time to reach the point where I call Trump a fascist, after calling him just a dumb clown and a proto-fascist respectively for months. Right now I wish that he was just a dumb clown, because then we could all just laugh about it. But this unfortunately is no laughing matter; the whole world should fear what's to happen if the world's mightiest country and biggest military continues on this path...

All I ask is that you keep an open mind while watching this video, and remember that this isn't a condemnation of each and every Trump supporter. But if you're even slightly politically aware, you should be able to see Trump and the way he's emboldened white supremacists and neo-Nazis for what they are...
