(Edited)

dCity just had a huge update with new cards, new technologies, decentralized governance and other new mechanics. The update included a lot of new things.

How has this impacted the game? Lets check it out!

https://dcity.io/info

For those not familiar with the game, dCity is a city simulator game where players are buying NFTs in form of a cards, that represent buildings and then try to optimize their city production.

Players are rewarded with the in-game token SIM on a daily basis based on their city production. The top 200 players are rewarded with HIVE based on their ranking on the leaderboard.

The game started at the end of January 2020 and it’s been around for more than four months now. In the first weeks there wasn’t even an interface but only discord bots. It has evolved quite a lot since
than and with the latest update even more.

Here we will be looking into the following:

  • Cards issued by date
  • Cards issued by type
  • Cards issued by player
  • SIM and HIVE rewarded to players
  • Cards buying
  • Top earners
  • Number of unique players

The period that we will be looking here is from the start of the game, at the end of January 2020 till June 12, 2020.

Cards Issued

Here is the chart of the cards issued per day.

02.png

These are cards on a daily basis that have been purchased from the house. Players can buy cards with SIM or HIVE. One card cost 800 SIM or 4 HIVE.

The chart above doesn’t include cards like immigrants and homeless that players get randomly.

We can see a significant growth in issued cards in the last period. This is mainly because of the update.

The number of cards purchase went from around 500 a day to a few thousands reaching 6000 on June 10th.

Note: There is some missing data from the Steem blockchain. The last report was made on Apr 10th and the game migrated to the Hive blockchain on Apr 23. Since the sql database for Steem is no more I wasn’t able to query the data between Apr 11 and Apr 22. This data for this period is estimated as accurate as possible.

Cards Issued by Player

Here is the chart for the top 20 players that purchased cards.

03.png

As noted, cards can be bought with SIM or HIVE.

@d-pend is on the top with just above 6k cards, followed by @fantasycrypto and @themightyvolcano.

These are cards bought from the house. The cards are tradable so cards both on the market are not included above. Also, some of the players can sell the cards, meaning not necessarily holding such a number of cards.

Here is a table of the number of cards issued for each card till June 12.

A total of 93k cards bought from the house. Cards that are received as free, like immigrants, homeless are not included above.

When a player buys a card from the house, he gets a random card from the above, based on the drop rate that cards have. Basic Homes have the highest drop rate and are at the top of the list. Also the second editon cards have just started so it will take some time for them for climb on the rank.

SIM Rewarded

The game is rewarding its players with SIM on a daily basis. Here is the chart for the daily amounts of SIM rewarded to players.

04.png

As we can notice the amount of SIM rewards has been increasing since more cards are issued daily that are bringing SIM to their players.
We can notice a slight drop in May, this is because of the tax introduction. But it went up fast again because of new cards buying and players increasing their income. In the last days it is more than 400k SIM even reaching 500k.

The chart for buying cards with SIM looks like this.

05.png

A big spike in the last days. On June 6th there is 1M worth of SIM cards purchased.

Overall, in the period above players were rewarded with around 24.5M SIM and at the same time around 22.5M was spent for buying cards. From this we can tell that most of the SIM goes back in cards buying. Also, with the last update SIM is used for tech unlocking and resetting the cooldown period, so more SIM is being spent there as well.

The top SIM Earners

Here is the chart for the top SIM earners.

06.png

@dustindivitto on the top with 2.7M SIM, followed by @themightyvolcano and @diverse.

HIVE/STEEM Rewarded

The game made a transition to the Hive blockchain and the reward pool was transitioned as well.

At first these rewards were distributed on a weekly basis and afterwards on daily basis. 50% of the cards sales goes into the reward pool, and 1.5% of that is distributed daily to players.
Here is the chart.

07.png

Note: Some of the STEEM distributed data is missing and estimated.

More than 30k STEEM was distributed to players and 31k HIVE in the period, or combined more than 60K HIVE/STEEM distributed.

The top HIVE/STEEM earners

Here is the chart for the top HIVE/STEEM earners.

08.png

@dustindivitto on the top with more than 5k HIVE/STEEM earners, followed by @themightyvolcano and @diverse.

Number of unique players

As unique players are counted accounts that have been purchased cards from the house. New unique accounts are added to the existing ones.

09.png

A total of 518 unique accounts have purchased cards from the house till June 12, 2020.

As we can see from the above dCity has really took off with the latest update and it has proven that it is here to stay.

All the best
@dalz

Obviously, I've been enjoying this game greatly since I discovered it a couple weeks ago :-) I think there's a lot of potential here and I am fond of these kind of virtual city simulators.

Soon there should be more updated tutorials for newcomers that includes information on the second expansion, but anyone curious can always come join us on Discord. https://discord.gg/RCgCkuB

I am known to give away basic homes to new players when they buy their first random card :-D

Nice that you droped the discord link here :)

Also great job from your side giving a push to small players.
Tutorials on the way yes, and this last updated gave another layer of complexity, but also a possibility for each player to choose their own way to develop.... especially with the tech tree.

This game has been a core for hivers to be fond of.
Still trying to understand the new cards and put them to good use.
Great detailed post.

I think dCity needs a simplified version of tutorial, where it should show how to start and how to play by creating a demo account.

What a great post to see how the game is growing! It's so exciting to be in on this from the beginning and to see it grow. It deserves it too!

Would be useful to see plot of total market value or cards outstanding, like Splinterlands regularly publishes for their game.

I did a quick calculation using your issuance stats from June 12 and my market snapshot from last night and get a market value of 107MM SIM, or roughly 537K HIVE (more than $100k USD)!!

A rough estimate of 100k card X 4 HIVE average = 400k :)

Your calculations is a bit more than that ... maybe market value each card above the average 4 HIVE.

Gerber made a script for average daily prices for cards, its should work soon, then we will be able to calculate the marketcap on daily basis using the latest 24h avg prices. Also a price history for each card.
