Note: Always do your own research before you put your money in a game. Cryptocurrency is volatile, and your main purpose should not be getting a return but more about having fun in the game

Here we go!

1. What are the 2nd Edition Cards?

There are 29 new cards that you can get from purchasing a random card.

These can be found in the INFO section of the game screen:
37.JPG
You just need to scroll down until you see "2nd edition collection".

If you have read my initial tutorial, you will see that these cards just represent assets and have the following attributes:

  • Population: Number of population that the card provides to your city
  • Income: Daily Sim Income (Sim is the in game token of dCity)
  • Popularity: It has a positive impact on your city's population. The higher the popularity the higher boost to your city's population
  • Workers: Number of population you require to obtain the full income stated on the card.
  • Rarity: Value stating the chance of you getting the specific card from a random card.
  • Other Attributes: Other Attributes such as Education and Creativity
  • Other Descriptions:

lets go through 2 examples:

Example Card 1: PARK

39.JPG

  • Population: provides 2 population to your city
  • Income: None
  • Popularity: 5 and there is a formula which determines the boost to your city's population
  • Workers: requires 1 population
  • Rarity: 15% very common
  • Other Descriptions: None

Example Card 2: RESEARCH CENTER

40.JPG

  • Population: None
  • Income: provide 3 SIM per day to your city
  • Popularity: 5 and there is a formula which determines the boost to your city's population
  • Workers: requires 18 population
  • Rarity: 5% rare
  • Other Attributes: Education: Adds 10 to Education, and we will touch on that in Section 3
  • Other Descriptions: You will need this card to discover technologies, mentioned below.

The above provides a high level explanation on the type of information you can find on each card and how to interpret them

In addition to the 29 cards, there are also 20 Technology cards then you can possibly get.

38.JPG
However, technology cards can not be obtained from the random cards.
We will go through how you can obtain these technology cards a bit later on in Section 3.

2. How do I get the 2nd Edition Cards?

This game is not free to play.

Double Note: Always do your own research before you put your money in a game. Your main purpose in game should not be getting a return but more about having fun in the game

2.1 From random card purchases

Simply click on "BUY" from the top Menu, and the screen below will show:

33.JPG

You can then choose to buy random cards with either Hive or SIM. The cost per random card is:

  • 4 HIVE
  • 800S SIM

You can drag the orange circle to how many cards you want to buy at once. (The MAX being 30 - which is 24000 SIM). Then you have to click on "BUY 2ND EDITION", then you will be be able to get one of those 2nd Edition cards per random card you purchased. Park is one of the more common cards and Waves Broadcast Tower is one of the rarest cards to get.

2.2 From the market

There is also a secondary market in which you can get the specific card that you want. Simply click on the "MARKET" option in the top Menu, and the below screen will pop up:
35.JPG

For more common cards, you will expect the seller to sell below the cost of a random card (4 HIVE or 800 SIM). For more rare cards, you can expect the seller to sell above the cost of a random card.

Now to the main section of the post:

3. Main updates due to the introduction of the 2nd Edition Cards?

3.1 Technologies Tab

We mentioned below that there are technology cards. To understand that better, click on "CITY" in the main Menus and then on "TECHNOLOGIES" in the sub menu.

41.JPG

You can then unlock technology from 4 different branches:

  • Branch 1: Control
  • Branch 2: Eduction
  • Branch 3: Automation
  • Branch 4: Utility

It really depends what your preferences are, and you unlock technology for that specific branch.
42.JPG

There is a cost to unlocking the technology from the branches. There are 5 tiers of technology to unlock per branch. Hence a total of possible 20 technologies to unlock. The cost is stated at the bottom of the technology block. For example, to unlock the Police Equipment from the Control Branch, it will cost 30 SIM and so on.

There is a cool down period (36 hours) for every technology that you unlock. However, you can pay 900SIM to reset the cooldown.

NOTE: Unlocking technologies doesn't give you the actual technology card and bonus. Instead, by unclocking tech, you put technologies on the list for possible discovery. Then every day you have a chance based on your education level to discover technology. 40 Education = a 1% chance with a max cap of 25%. (from @dcitygame's post)

So the higher your education then the higher the chance that you will discover a technology.
I have 44 education points so I only have 1% chance of discovery a technology that I unlocked.

43.JPG

Say I am lucky and I unlock a technology, then there is a chance that I will get a technology card of a particular tier. There is a lower chance of getting a higher tier (better) technology card.

In addition, you need to have the Research Center card in order to discover a technology.

3.2 Government Tab

There is now a President in game, and it is currently @gerber.
There are also different types of tax set by the President in game. Go to the "CITY" in the main menu and click on "GOVERNMENT" in the sub menu as below:
45.JPG

You will then see this screen, which details the current tax rates of the different types of tax.
44.JPG

You will need to get different cards as different types of tax is switched on, so there will be more decisions made than previously.

And I think I will end the tutorial here. There are other updates, but I think the above should provide you an idea about the basics of the game. You can then interact in the dCity Discord channel if you have more questions.

Conclusion/Ending remarks

Note: Always do your own research before you put your money in a game. Cryptocurrency is volatile, and your main purpose should not be getting a return but more about having fun in the game

The game has definitely became more complex and requires more decision making since the introduction of the 2nd edition cards. There are more decisions require and has made the game more interesting and involved.

Have I got a return on this game?
NO, Since the last post, I am still quite far away from breakeven. However, I am not really looking for a return, but more for the fun of building an imaginary city on the blockchain. If you are looking for a quick way to make big profits then this game is probably not for you.
