Meeting some cool cats as I couldn’t find silver shops, เจอแมวแปลกๆแต่ไม่เจอร้านเงินแท่ง

Yesterday was a bright sunny day so I made an effort to go out for my walking exercise. I have come up with a plan to explore an area or sightseeing spot in Bangkok which I have never visited before. My incentive was that I would reward myself with a piece of my favourite chocolate cake at the nicest and healthiest coffee shop, which is just opposite the American Ambassador’s Residence in Bangkok. You could imagine how envious I have been of all those in the Residence! They could always order all the most delicious cakes and snacks to be delivered to them within less than five minutes!! What a luxurious lifestyle! Perhaps I would apply for the position of a gardener, just in case they are very kind to their staff! One of my friends was invited to dinner there twice! He said the food and wine were so good! I have to reincarnate as an artist next time!? But I had a better plan any way. Oh! Cats!

Actually I was going to check out some silver jewelry shops which I was told they would buy and sell silver bars and coins. You may not know that it’s impossible to but silver coins or silver bars in Bangkok. The reason is that there is no demand for silver bars or coins; most people favour gold jewelry, coins and bars as an investment and status symbols. So, I went off on the road along the river for my walking exercise. This was a bit adventurous for me as I was in unfamiliar area. But local people were so friendly whenever I chatted them up and they told me where to find the oldest Chinese merchant house in Bangkok!

(I thought the majesty cat did not wipe his nose after savoring his chocolate cake. He looked so funny as he reminded me of someone! No! Banish the thought!)

As I was walking past a pile of rubbish bins, I saw this cat sitting on top of the bin looking like the king of the bin kingdom. He was sitting very still that he did not respond to my iPhone. But his eyes’ expression changed in the three photos, though he did not move an inch! I gave him a thumb up! The lady at the nearby food stall gave me a big smile . So, I tested by moving closer to take my second and third photos! Again, he did not move so I thanked him and gave him a thumb up again. That lady was having a good laugh.

เมื่อวานนี้เราไปเดินตามหาร้านขายเงินแท่งและเหรียญเงินแถวถนนเจริญกรุง แต่ร้านปิดกันหมด เราถามคนแถวนั้นเขาก็บอกว่าต้องมาวันธรรมดา และหลายร้านเจ๊งแล้วจึงปิดไป เราก็เลยหาที่เดินเล่นออกกำลังกายต่อ เราเดินไปตามถนนเรียบไปกับแม่น้ำ ที่แถวนี้เราไม่ค่อยคุ้นเคย และค่อนข้างจะแปลกตา แต่คนในท้องที่มีความเป็นมิตรมาก เราไปคุยถามทาง เขาก็บอกว่าที่สุดซอยเล็กๆ ทางขวามือนั้นมีบ้านคหบดีที่เก่าแก่มากที่สุดในกรุงเทพฯ เราก็ขอบใจเขาและเดินไปสู่จุดหมาย เราไปสะดุดแมวสีขาวดำ ที่นั่งเป็นผู้คุมถังขยะหลากสีราวกับว่ามันเป็นผู้ครองแคว้นถังขยะหลายสี มันนั่งนิ่งมาก และปล่อยให้เราถ่ายรูปโดยมันไม่ขยับเลย เราก็ทดลองเข้าไปใกล้ๆ มันก็นิ่งมากเหมือนหุ่น เราก็ถ่ายภาพมาสามรูป เรายกนิ้วให้มันสามครั้ง แมวก็นิ่งสนิท ทำให้แม้ค้าที่อยู่ไม่ไกลทั้งยิ้มทั้งหัวเราะชอบใจในความตลกนิ่งๆ ของแมวตัวนี้ เราดูแมวตัวนี้ไว้ผมแสกกลาง ผมดำขลับ แต่กลับลืมเช็ดปากตอนกินขนมเค็กจนเปื้อนติดจมูก มันดูตลกมาก กว่าเราจะไปถึงบ้านโบราณ เรายังเจอแมวอีกหลายตัว แต่มันไม่ยอมให้ถ่ายรูป และยังมีนิทรรศการภาพถ่ายตามตรอกด้วย และมีแมวมาตั้งด่านตรวจสุขภาพนักท่องเที่ยวอีกด้วย เสียดายมีแสงไม่พอแล้ว เราจึงไม่ได้เก็บภาพไว้

Along the narrow lane, there was a photography exhibition of local life and several local cats were in these photos.

There were several cats hiding among pot plants and benches along this very narrow lane. Some cats were sleeping inside people’s houses so I could not take their photos. But there was this sweet cat telling me which turn to take till I arrived at the oldest Chinese merchant’s house. But it was closed to the public. I used to see video clips about this old house with a nice coffee shop on the second floor of the house. Lockdown has closed so many tourists sightseeing spots. I will have to visit that area and all the cats again!
