Perjalanan hidup dan proses kreatif Márquez bisa didapatkan dalam buku ini, meski secara keseluruhan isinya tidak bisa dikatakan sebagai biografi yang mengupas seluruh rahasia hidup sang penulis, sebab buku biografinya sudah ditulis lebih lengkap oleh penulis Amerika Utara, Gerald Martin. Memang terlalu singkat untuk bisa memahami Gabo dalam dalam 114 halaman.
