Look What I Found on NaturalMedicine!

avatar

This is the last day to participate in this week's Pay It Forward Curation Contest by @pifc, and this time I really don't want to miss out on it. After all, the tribe we are focusing on is #naturalmedicine, which is very closely related to the groups and people who are into sustainability, homesteading, healthy living, etc. pretty much what I am all about too.

Impressions of the NaturalMedicine User Interface

The first thing I notice when opening this tribe's front end is a neat welcome sign, giving the newcomer a general idea about the tribe and the token, and what kinds of content is to be expected. This is something so simple, yet so helpful, which I've been missing at many other tribes.

Looking at the most recent posts, one will see the general tendency: there is of course a lot of good food recipes, also lots of cannabis related posts, as well as a few posts from a wide range of categories: physical exercise, musings on society, farming journals, bamboo bikes (wink-wink, I know, I just HAD to drop a bit of a shameless plug). But let's take a closer look at the posts I have chosen to share here:

Super Fast #FFF by @idig

Fasting is one of those techniques of resetting your organism, which has incredible health benefits, but is unfortunately little discussed by most people. Not so our author, @idig, who has tried fasting on various occasions for time periods of up to 23 days.

There are of course many different types of fasts, and even though I have only experienced one of them myself, I don't want to say that other methods don't work. To me it just seems strange and unusual, but that only shows my lack of familiarity with them. I have never even heard of a saltwater fast, which is what @idig talks about. Since this post was written on the first fasting day, I hope to hear more about it later on.

15 minute Vegan Caribbean curry by @nutman

After the post about no food, let's continue with one giving us a most delicious sounding recipe. It's pretty simple, really, a curry dish to use up all the leftover veggies in one's fridge. But just look at those mouth-watering pics!

image.png

If this is not the perfect follow-up to a post about fasting, I don't know what is. For me, one of the most obvious, in-your-face effects of a fast were my heightened senses, especially my smell and taste. Each bite of food was just overflowing with flavor, even the simplest things, so sharpened were my taste-buds. Now, here in @nutman's post you an virtually smell the rich curry flavor. YUM!

Epistemological Path to Understanding Suicide in Society by @ulisesfl17

And finally, here's a bit of philosophy... and not just of any kind! The author @ulisesfl17 has published a very well written, and excellently researched paper about suicide, examining the view from various philosophers' perspectives, as well as its progression through time, from antiquity through medieval Christianity, up to our scientifically enlightened present.

image.png

The text is long, and is full of references, so it reads a bit like an academic publication. However, it is broken up into portions that are easily digestible, with titles that help the reader get an impression of the text by just glancing through it, and there are also nice images illustrating the topic at hand. Considering all these factors, you could say that @ulisesfl17 is raising the bar on quality content quite a bit. I think the post is worth checking out, even if you are not super interested in the philosophical views on suicide.

Take a Look at This Contest!

Since we're talking about #NaturalMedicine, I'd like to draw your attention to another contest. It's a combined effort between NaturalMedicine and BuildIt. What you gotta do is exactly this: build something that somehow relates to natural medicine. Check out the specific details in their prompt post.

I hope @pifc will forgive me this other shameless plug, though unlike mentioning the bamboo bike, this contest is not of my own doing. I am merely happy to be sharing and participating in it. At the same time, I'd suggest that we could maybe look at BuildIt as part of next week's Pay It Forward Contest? If not, I'm sure we'll get around to it eventually.

Oh no, such things are completely unrealistic... unless you really want to be a full-time steemian. I'm sure some people like the idea, but otherwise I think it's pointless to expect such level of engagement from ourselves or others. Even discord is a place where my visits have become sporadic at the most. Posting, going through my feed, and upvoting / commenting already takes a huge chunk of time and effort.

Hey, buddy. What a good presentation you made about my post, can be considered a mini prologue. Excellent work you do with the curatorships.

In fact, the post corresponds to an original content and very well documented that I did in an essay for the chair Crimes against people. My area of knowledge is education and environmental sciences; however, I am currently studying a new career in legal sciences, Law.

I regularly publish original and quality content, among the communities that most support my blog is #steemstem, so I give a scientific orientation to all posts, as I get a better assessment.

Thank you for the support; good luck in the contest, sure you have the prize at hand.
