Fun things I do in steem: curating for curation groups

Hi there. Just another rants from me.

Some of you know (and many of you don’t) that I’m a curator for several curation projects on this platform. Those projects are: c-squared, c-cubed, curie, and archdruid (specific curation for game content).

Curating is fun activity for me. I’m not a good content creator. I’m terrible at articulating ideas. It always all over the place for me when it come to writing. But I love to read. And while reading those contents often I think, “hey, this content is good, it deserves more recognition”. Believe me, it does feels good when we see good content get rewards it deserved.

Standing silence in traffic, that’s how I feel about curating content.

In this platform curie is my first love. I didn’t know how they found me, but they gave me that sweet sweet upvote. Rewards aside, I liked the idea of their curation style since the beginning of my steemit days. They have this guidelines that made me easier to find a good content to curate. Their merit system also easy to understand. Their transparency is good. Every week you could read report of their curation works. The way i think when I curate for curie: it’s all about quality and undiscovered gems.

Alongside curie, I’m also pretty active at c-squared. This is a different idea of curation from curie (I’m also a fan of their founders, they’re all not just great curators, but great content creators too). Curating for c-squared feels refreshing. The way i think when curating for c-squared: It’s all about love. When I found a post that a liked but doesn’t met curie’s guidelines, I just drop ‘em in C-squared. I also found many interesting post to read from their discord server. The wide-range curation scope in c-squared is amazing. Its a curation collective anyway. So yeah, expect many types of content there.

Curating for c-cubed is another fun thing. So basically c-cubed curation is selecting the best of the best from c-squared. On daily basis, c-cubed curator will discussing which post to pick as c-cubed selection. To me, c-cubed is all about awesomeness. As long as the post is awesome, they will pick it. It doesn’t mater whether the post already has high rewards, or already at 6 days, as long as its awesome, they will pick it.

I don’t know if you’d feel the same, but for me, curation is fun. That drive to always find new things, new authors, it’s exciting. I mean, where is the fun when this great platform filled with limited circle only? Personally I feel that browsing at those curation groups is far better than browsing steem trending/hot tab. (steempeak has this feature that let you follow your favorite curator’s trails).

Without those curation groups, I still do curation. I always read. 70% of my online time, I spent it on reading content on steem. Most of content I read is from newer steemians. When I found a post that I like, I voted it. I bring the post that amazingly good and under rewarded to those curation groups. Move on to the next post. Repeat. I do that mostly because my steem power means nothing to the rewards pool :D

I admit, with this style of curating, I have poor engagement in this platform. I don't leave many comments, and that's not good.
Other thing that concern me: it’s when an author receives upvotes from various curation groups in such short interval for some times. Their rep will be boosted. But when the support from the curation groups has stopped, this high rep author would struggle with tiny rewards. Feels a little bit unnatural.

I’ve been vacuum from many steem related activities since July - September. When I came back in October, I saw so many new things. #newsteem looks great. There were so many curations activities going on. This is awesome. TBH, I never really care about steem price. I think if steem can retain their users, that’s already good enough.

Thanks for the support. But guys, I think you better stop doing this automation things, and start to curate manually. Just a food of thought :) cheers!
