Prove it to me

HF21 New Steem = more SP spent voting good posts?

Prove it to me. For over a year I have been volunteering my time with no payment toward an open community for curators (@c-squared / @c-cubed). I co-founded C-Squared (C²) with noted Steem ne'er-do-wells @markangeltrueman, @randomwanderings & @justineh (@llfarms for you old school types who have been living under a rock for past 6 months), and have helped run it with the other co-founders and an ever-changing cadre of active volunteer administrators first headlined by @hiddenblade and @veryspider (who is still the reigning and undisputed art curator champion of the world not to mention spider par excellence keeping me from the #1 server ranking at C-Squared Discord).

More about C-Squared after the jump. The PROVE IT TO ME part is simple. Follow the c-squared vote trail(s) available at steemauto.com (none of these trails allow self promotion for the initial curation - smell the proof of brain):

  • @c-squared (general community curation & community witness account - resteems all C-Squared upvotes. Between ~50-100 votes a day at variable VP ~10-20%. Predominately English language with some non-English curation, in order of frequency from most to least votes: Spanish, Turkish, Italian with much less frequent Myanmar, Filipino and Indonesian curation. Possibly the largest curation effort on Steem blockchain by number of curators and certainly one of the most diverse).
  • @c-cubed (second layer of curation, c-squared "featured posts" voted on by c-squared administrators for extra vote with @c-cubed account. ~10 votes a day at 100% VP. Publishes an automated once-daily post summarizing featured posts).
  • @c-squared-pal (dedicated #palnet tribe vote trail following the @c-squared vote on posts using #palnet tag, currently ~35%-50% VP votes).
  • @c-squared-ccc (dedicated #creativecoin tribe vote trail following the @c-squared vote on posts using #creativecoin tag, currently ~35%-50% VP votes)

Curation Collective post cover image.jpg

Not sure if you want to follow a "curation guild"?

C-squared may surprise you. IMHO this is the closest thing to actual "proof of brain" crowdsourced curation on the platform, with no attempts to define "exceptional content" or police particular topics and instead a focus on upvoting real posts by real people recommended by other real people.

C-Squared invites everyone to join the Discord and request the curator role.

  • The curation "guidelines" can be boiled down to no self promotion in the curation channels, and check for spam/plagiarism. Currently 312 curators.
  • We tell curators: If you find a post that deserves more love, bring it here.
  • C-Squared has left it to curator's best discretion what kind of posts to bring in.
  • The most active curators who become valued contributors to c-squared curation (as nominated/voted by administrators) are given the "voter" role and can upvote posts brought in by other curators (voters are still not allowed to upvote posts they themselves bring in). Currently 49 voters.
  • C-Squared does not attempt to define specific guidelines for voters to follow, instead leaving it to voter's best discretion whether to upvote a post or not (with the instruction that unless the reason for not voting is spam/plagiarism, to not give negative feedback and instead just leave the post for consideration by other voters).
  • The most active voters who continue steady contribution to c-squared are given administrator role upon nomination and vote of other administrators. Currently 9 administrators. Administrators can upvote posts they curate to keep the server moving but still must adhere to the no self-promotion rule.

No curator or administrator at c-squared receives payment for time volunteered.

But c-squared doesn't curate the kind of content I like!

OK - you sound like a potential curator! Please join the Discord, request curator role, and start bringing in the good posts in areas that c-squared curators are currently neglecting. There are no hoops to jump through. There are no complicated guidelines to adhere to. There is nothing stopping you from diversifying c-squared curation even more than it is now :) That is what we mean by c-squared is an open community for curators.

EVERYONE should be a curator on the Steem blockchain

That is what "proof of brain" means... or is supposed to mean :) Come join us where that is the reality.

Prove it to me

@c-squared is a community witness

Another easy way to support the c-squared curation effort is to vote for the @c-squared community witness. Witness earnings in excess of server costs are powered up and/or used to fund contest prize pools.

Every user who is an active voter should join c-squared curation team. It is a great place to learn how to distribute your votes in a way that brings value to the community. I believe that way more people will show interest after HF21:)

Been trailing @c-cubed a while and now have a multitude of accounts following up with various Tribe tokens.

I hope more people join the club!

10 votes are made by the @c-cubed account each day - a 5% follow is only half of one of your 10 votes each day - surely people can spare that in the name of rock solid content?!

I like that reasoning - tough to argue! Surely people can indeed spare half of one of their 10 vote allotments daily.

I guess I'm an Einzelgänger.

Will still look around. :)

had to look that one up - I like it! Everyone should be an einzelgänger. Presumably though HF21 won't actually magically give anyone more free time, so those who didn't have free time to manually curate for their own votes will still not have the time do so after the hard fork goes into effect. There has been a fair amount of talk about how the 50/50 curation will lead to more people using SP to vote rather than delegate to bid bots or projects - I am a little skeptical, but thought I might as well toss the various c-squared vote trails into the hat as potential places to lodge a vote follow for anyone who might want to vote more after HF21 without having the time to actually do more curating.

I'm new to this place STEEM, still under 50 posts myself and still under 10 natural SP.. I applied for the curator role 3 days ago, received it a few hours later and so far the 2 posts I picked of other's and 'submitted' for curation on the server have both received their seal of approval by getting an upvote and resteem by the awesome c-squared voting team, so if I can do it, people believe me - you can too!

Especially you who's following the #creativecoin feed ;)

It's way more exciting to see other members (and especially the voters) agree with your curations of someone else's work, than it is to see upvotes coming in for your own.

Very happy to have you on board and see you commenting here - that is a great testimonial! We really do try to have as few hoops to jump through as possible, with the intention of amplifying the curation efforts of real people like yourself who are reading posts and taking the time to help boost up the ones you like the most.

I have had a delegation backing @c-squared for almost a year after having a chat with the split personality of @justineh / @llfarms at a bar in Poland at SF3.

Meetup in Alchemia @justineh?

I am hoping that people will start backing/trailing /doing something to support more curation - whatever that is.

Thanks for the support! It would be a welcome surprise to me if HF21 does in fact mean more support of curation. Fingers crossed

Either more support for curation directly or with enough downvotes, support indirectly :D At the very least, things will be more interesting than they are today.

Thank you so much for all your hard work. You are right about @veryspider she is so supportive of everyone on here (meanwhile her own art gets more and more beautiful). Having that kind of energy you guys devote to others is a sign of solid character.

For it to happen, a lot of stake has to be undelegated to bid bots and returned towards active curation. Would be cool to run a community "challenge" to get people to undelegate and spend at least a few weeks/months actively curating or trailing those that do.

Your post prompted me to confirm I had set up voting for the @c-cubed curation trail. I appreciate all that you do for our Steem blockchain @carlgnash.

Let's hope that HF21 actually turns out to be better than projected!

With hard fork 21 upon us I like the changes to the curation rewards which will hopefully improve engagement on this fine blockchain
