Dis Iz Patwah!

Hey 👋 Wah gwaan? (How are you?)
So I was doing some research on patois for a series I’m working on then I remembered storing this video. I thought this would be a good introduction to the language / dialect so many hear and don’t understand. In addition the examples are great and the material well researched and serves as a valuable educational tool even to Jamaicans. I’ll bring you more later re my heart language. Certainly no other language is as expressive when I need to get my point across. Dis iz patwah to rahtid! Walk gud! Likkle more!

Kinda funny though “the Queen’s English” is taught in our schools as the official language (3rd largest English Speaking Nation in the West tbh)... and yet Patois is spoken most by the people and adopted quickly by visitors, some of whom know little English learn Patois very fast just by spending some time on the island— out of many, one people u zt

Yes man - it would taken me a long time to do all that research. I have one from a very Jamaican source but I figure I would lead with this one because most people on reggae steem are not Jamaican so they might need an ease into the Lingua.
