MAPX News: Random Upvotes & MAPR Token Launch - 26 July 2019
Sales of MAPX tokens are going well, with some 6,200 sold and about 5525 staked. Although today has been another slow day in the token market, we have done a lot of shuffling around tokens!
Today saw the launch of the MAP Rewarder token, MAPR, and we are building up our cross-holdings between MAPX and MAPR. MAP Rewarder will benefit from much higher upvotes and MAPX will benefit from regular income and a rising asset. When our mining stops, I shall review whether some of those funds should support our SP.
We have also swapped MAPX tokens for MAPR with the ONECENT game so as to boost the upvotes on its posts. As the two tokens are both about the same price of 1 STEEM, this seems a fair trade. Talking of prices, MAPX is slowly creeping up - those waiting to catch a bargain price may be left disappointed.
Note also that we have 86 accounts with staked MAPX, so it isn't just large accounts that are benefiting fom our upvotes. As we move towards 9,000 tokens sold you will see each price point have fewer tokens available. We will continue to offer some tokens at the ABV but they tend to get snapped up pretty quickly at that price; the value in the MAPX token is currently more in the strength of upvotes than in the underlying asset value, although I am trying to keep it as close to 1 STEEM as possible.

A 10% upvote is equivalent to 100 MAPX tokens and today is worth 0.190 STEEM.
One thing to note in these depressing times of depressed prices, is that the Steem macroeconomic system - the vests and rshares that govern the STEEM coin - adjusts itself so that the size of upvotes in STEEM actually increases. Once the price (hopefully) rises again, those extra STEEM will be worth more in Dollar terms.
