The final game of the round-robin part of the tournament sees bottom side Melbourne Renegades host Brisbane Heat with the visitors needing a win to secure their place in the playoffs.

Following their victory over league leaders the Stars, the Heat continue to be the most unpredictable side in this year's tournament. They decided to promote Ben Cutting up the order to open that game and play AB de Villiers as the keeper making an already top-heavy batting line-up even bulkier. The gamble paid off in no small part because the Heat won the toss and were able to bat first, a situation that has suited their style of play much more than chasing has this season. If you wanted evidence of just how poor the Heat are at chasing down totals you need look back no further than the corresponding fixture between these 2 sides last week when despite a fast start the Heat crumbled under the pressure, playing some of the worst cricket you'll ever see.

Again, the smart play would be to wait and see which way the toss goes in this game on the assumption that the above-mentioned pattern will continue.

The other major factor here is the Heat's struggles against slow bowling which will once again be put under the spotlight by a Renegades team who will bowl at least half of their allotted 20overs with spinners. In their last outing against the Stars, the Heat smashed 85 runs from the 7 overs of genuine pace provided by Coulter-Nile and Dilbar Hussain while by contrast, they managed just 43 runs from 8 overs against Zampa and Lamichane, losing 4 wickets in the process.

As the stats above show, the Renegades batting towards the back end of this season has been pretty good and Aaron Finch returned from captaining Australia to hit a magnificent hundred in their last match against the Sixers. That being said, it's noticeable that the Renegades have decided to use these last few games to blood a few of the youngsters in their squad so anticipating who will play and where they will bat is anyone's guess.
