I got a bit tired of holding my iPad all the time, it’s an old version so it’s a bit heavy. Pretty serious problem right ? Well not really, but still, I need my hands to eat popcorn and stuff when I watch the iPad so I wanted to get a stand. I looked around online and it was quite pricey. In my opinion it shouldn’t be, it’s a simple solution, just a stand to keep the iPad at an angle.

In the end I came across some more basic diy designs and I fell for the simplicity of just cutting a piece of birch and making a groove to keep it in place.

In the end I’m quite happy with the result. Environmental friendly, simple and light to carry around. It’s very easy to make, the “hard” part is that it you need preparation work of drying the wood. Many people use birch for the fire places in Sweden so I just asked a guy I know to cut me some slices, before chopping up the wood that I let dry. Then I made the groove using a simple milling tool.

I’m gonna make a new one soon where
I’m gonna sandpaper it and polish it to get a more beautiful finish.

Haha my bad supposed to be milling tool. I don’t know the exact translation from swedish to English, I think it is called cut saw in English. It’s not the right tool to use for this, but it is what I had to work with hehe

That's a really neat way to make a stand for that. I love it :)
