Solitary Monkey

I met this thoughtful fella in Rishikesh in Northern India.
As he sat quietly – delicately balancing – watching the world move around him – his posture and expressions were simply too 'familiar' not to anthropomorphize.
I often feel like I imagine this monkey felt.
Like – I'm quite alone on this precarious edge, watching life speed unflinchingly by. All I can do is hang on tight and keep watching, knowing the world won't pause simply because I'm feeling too spent to keep up with its dizzy spinning.
The best I can hope for is a good view whilst I wait for things to slow down.

Yeah, sometimes, waiting for the craziness to slow down is about all you can do. Chasing after it is just way too tiring.

Indeed; there's a magic that flows between my eye and my camera that is as surprising and fulfilling as it was several decades ago. I'm grateful to be doing what I'm meant to be doing on this planet. <3 Thanks for noticing.

I understand your thoughts about this little monkey.. seeing the world go by, behind the bars. As I say that I think of Elliott Smith and his "Between the Bars"... I'm sure he felt like he was behind them.
Now I want to watch that video. I will put it here for you too. My favorite video on YouTube. Like THE favorite. If they did a tally of how many times I've watched any video, this one would 100 percent be my most watched.

Ha ha.. you’re the cutie pie... we did talk about it.. we both are kinda obsessed with him... I did cover that song a lonnnng time ago. I can’t watch the video anymore because it makes me cry, because the sweetest cat I ever shared my life with is in it, tapping me on the shoulder with her paw as I played, trying to get my attention. It makes me want to go back in time. She lived 17 years ❤️
