My entry to Deranged Photography Contest - From a Distance Theme

Fun theme, this one! Apart from wildlife, landscapes and nature are my favourite photo subjects. And if for wildlife, most of the time I tend to zoom as much as possible, for the other two keeping some distance is the normal way to shoot. For anyone not knowing about the contest, please check the original post here!

These photos were taken in Turkey, in the Capadocia region, a couple years ago. They were shot in the second day of the year; one of the goals of visiting that region was to take a balloon ride, and admire the surreal capadocian landscape from above.

And we were lucky. Due to weather conditions, there were no balloon flights for over one week, and on that day, they finally happened again. And the result? Hundreds of balloons in the air, to cope with all the people waiting to fly.

The photos really don't do justice to the show I've witnessed there. The incredible rock formations, the cloudy sunrise, and the colourful balloons all over the sky made for a memorable ride!
