Sci-Fi Building in Substance Painter

In the newest version of Substance Painter they've finally integrated proper displacement which means I can manipulate a 3D model with textures. This opens up a lot of possibilities for what you can do.

Tonight I was experimenting with what I could do with a bunch of hard surface maps and this building is what I came up with. The base model is REALLY simple and all the detail is added with 2D image textures.

This is the base model

So basically I can take that super simple model and make something that looks really complex by combining a bunch of image textures. The images displace the model, here's what one looks like.

Lighter values extrude the model more and darker less, with pure black being zero extrusion. In the end you can get some pretty cool results.

Hoping this weekend I'll have time to put this into some sort of illustration, we'll see what happens. That's all I've got to share for today. Have a good one Steem.

That's a pretty cool creation, @midlet :-)

I'm getting Star Wars vibes, as it somehow reminds me of a Star Destroyer. I'm always happy to see and go through your work. So, it seems you're good at 2D and 3D art, is there anything you can't do?
