Another Mountain Scene and an IOU for a Tutorial

Snow_04_.jpg

I thought today I'd make a video tutorial about how to make one of those snowy mountains I made a couple posts back, but before I started recording I wanted to refresh my memory on the process as last time I was sort of "discovering" some parts of the process as I was doing it.

Long story short, I got caught up in that, and now I need to get to work with real work, so I just have this pretty picture. It is a slight upgrade from the last version as I got some nicer volumetrics in there to give the atmosphere a bit more realism. I also replaced the default blank sky object sky, with a photo of a sky so that that has a bit more realism as well.

For the people that just glance at this post so they know it's CG

Also here's the shader setup.

Basically the same thing as before, displacement for the mountain, then a triplanar node combined with a falloff node to create masks to control where rock texture shows up and where snow texture shows up. If that doesn't make any sense, like I said, I'll do a tutorial soon. Until then, see you all in the next post!

Congratulations! A very realistic render! I use 3D Studio Max but I never had the need to do this type of 3D.
I recognize your skill.

I share with you a !BEER and some !trdo :)

Hey I confess it, you cheated me for a moment, I thought it was a real photo, your representation very good, the only thing I think you have to give other nuances to the rock, it's very uniform ... it's my opinion, but it's good.

Thanks @jorgebgt! Yea, with a bit more time, you can add a lot of variation. I'll be posting a tutorial about how it's made later today.
