Picture of the Day

Here’s a picture that I took on yesterday’s eBike ride. The nice thing about bike riding is that there are better opportunities to stop and check out nice looking areas for a photo.

The old railroad Bridge

This bridge was abandoned a while ago, and I’m not sure exactly when. It has a lot of rust and graffiti on it. Whoever climbed up on the tower to put their mark was pretty courageous.

The water color was a very pretty blue this day. I wanted to get a better picture but it was difficult to climb down to the water lever and I was tired from disc golfing.

Part of this old railroad line turned into a really nice bike path that I like to ride on to avoid the traffic. I wish they had extended it over this old bridge, that would have been fun.

Lot of times these old abandoned structures like this appeal to me for photography. Somehow I like to think about what they were like back when they were being used. Watching the slow erosion of the materials and the lack of maintenance is interesting to me. Nature seems to modify things pretty fast once we get out of the way and let things take their course.

Old stuff like this sometimes looks good in Technicolor:

Or maybe even black and white:

It seems to me the reflection of the bridge in the water show up a bit more in black and white.

I’ll be sharing more of these images from the bike ride on my main account @lightsplasher with my daily evening post.

Thanks for reading! I always value your support and comments. The picture was taken by me with my Galaxy S9+ and modified in software. Text and graphics copyright lightsplasher & litesplasher.

I love old structures that have character. I also love history, so I like you often think about their past.

I think of history as like our collective memories. It is a very fascinating thing that can say a lot about the habits and things we deal with that run through generations of families and cultures.

I agree it can provide us with insight as to how to deal with things in the present,I see big tech as the railroad of the past. They are big corporations with their affecting every aspect of our lives.
