My life amid the Coronavirus

Checking in with my monthly COVID19 update.

At the beginning of the crisis I was so interested to know what was happening in other parts of the world and thought some might like to know about things here in Arizona.

On March 13, 2020 I posted Times of change and uncertainty. A couple of days after the World Health Organization announced that COVID-19 is officially a pandemic and Arizona Governor Doug Ducey declared a state of emergency.

On April 14, 2020 I posted Share My World: Thoughts on COVID19 about working from home, ASU moving to online instruction and some of the alerts and numbers of cases.

On May 14, 2020 I posted Monthly COVID19 update about wearing masks, social distancing and graduation online.

It is now June 19, 2020 and time for another update.

Things started opening up this month. YAY! Zion and Bryce National Parks, restaurants and local places like the Mesa library. I also got tested for COVID-19 and George Floyd was killed and Black Lives Matter protests happened.

For a second time during the pandemic I joined @jarvie for some camping in Southern Utah. Here are Favorites of May Southern Utah Trip. It was great that Zion and Bryce both opened up in May and we were able to hike some awesome trials like the Narrows and Navajo loop.

I also had a visit from a great family friend Sara Quinney Jones from Ohio.

We did lots of eating, playing games, going on walks and enjoying each others company.

The PF Changs that we went to is in Scottsdale, Arizona which was targeted by protesters. The PF changs had many broken windows and the front doors were destroyed.

With so much change, uncertainty and being limited to our homes emotions ran extra high and things got violent after the killing of George Floyd.

This painting by @armandosodano is powerful and really caused me to think and reflect.

Black Lives Matter protestsUS Mexico Border remains closedFace Masks Mandatory in Arizona in public

It has been quite a month. I continued to work from home and that is going well. Some businesses, restaurants, and parks opened. I got tested for COVID19 (negative) before a out patient procedure at Mayo Hospital. Emotions and feelings concerning the killing of George Floyd and Black Lives Matter ran strong. Face masks are now mandatory in public in Arizona.

mmm... the numbers for Arizona has risen proportionally higher than the rest of USA, that's not a very good sign. Take care Sara!

Glad to hear things are opening up, especially the national parks! Hopefully, people are staying healthy and trying to keep contagion down.

Cases are still climbing, here in MN, and there aren't any large parks in the southern part of the state to escape to. I might get to the Boundary Waters this fall, though.

We had gift cards to both. I am still thinking about the fish tacos and mango key lime cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory.
