Few words for participants of my contests, challenges and giveaways

Hi there my Hivean friends and followers!

Just as I predicted in some of my recent posts, the current increase in the price of Hive has - as usually - caused a rise in the overall activity on our blockchain. People are posting more often, we have more newbies and also more comebacks of our old fellows who were not active in the past months (or even years in some cases). The level of engagement on the chain is growing and I can see that in my contests, challenges and giveaways (hereinafter referred to just as initiatives) too. It´s definitely a good sign and I am really happy about the uptrend that we are currently witnessing here on Hive but let me take this opportunity to send a few words to those who participate in my initiatives.

First of all, I would like to say a big thank you to those amazing loyal folks who take part in my initiatives on a regular basis and support them with their great entries, votes (no matter how big or small), fair play and respect for the rules and conditions of the initiatives. You guys are awesome and I really appreciate your contribution to the initiatives and to our community as such.

But unfortunately, not all of the participants are like this. I don´t really want to get bogged down in talking about all those types of not so cool behaviors that I have observed in my contests so let´s just focus on one simple but important thing and that is following the rules.

Each of the initiatives that I host here on my blog has its own rules and conditions. They are mentioned in every round and they are simple. There is a good reason for each of them, I wouldn´t really make them up just for the sake of having some, trust me. So guys, especially newbies who are not so familiar with my initiatives yet, before participating in any of them, please read the rules and conditions and respect them when submitting your entries.

The amount of participants who ignore the rules has increased so much lately that from now on, all entries in my Monday tipping challenge (that´s where people have been most ignorant) that break any of the rules, will be disqualified automatically. In my other initiatives, I will still let the participants know if they don´t follow any of the rules and let them edit their entries to make them valid for now but if the participation gets too overwhelming, I might not be able to be that benevolent any more.

So please, just respect the rules guys. I am doing these initiatives for you. I mean with almost 40k HP, I would be fine just enjoying the passive income from the autovotes or delegations but I still want to be active and do something more for the community than just being a stakeholder here. Hive (and before that Steem) has been very generous to me and I really like to give back to the community, that´s why I organize all these things for you. Let´s just make sure they stay fun for both sides: for you as the participants and for me as the host ;)

Thanks for your attention. Have a nice day and keep on hiving!

Unfortunately some of the newcomers and comebacks are not that focused on healthy engagement, and just think of joining every opportunity for a possible profit. Don't let those take much of your time or energy! 😉 Cheers! !BEER

Yeah, seems like that... What can we do, there will always be these people who only show up when there is something to get for free and don´t even bother with reading the rules (let alone supporting the initiatives with votes) but that´s life and we just shouldn´t them ruin the fun for the others, great and respectful folks who, fortunately, still account for the vast majority of the engagement ;) Thanks for your encouraging words mate, I appreciate it :)

I agree with this completely. There was a similar issue recently on noise.cash where spammers were flooding the platform to get free tips, it became rather annoying to be honest, especially for the original content creators. I don't get to spend a huge amount of time on Hive each day but I always tip when I find good posts and it's really just good manners to follow the rules, so I agree that people that don't bother to read and stick to the rules should get disqualified, that's absolutely fair.

Have a lovely day, looking forward to seeing more of your initiatives 😊

Thanks for your feedback. Yeah, good manners is what some people obviously lack. Actually, in that tipping challenge where invalid entries will be disqualified, the problem is that editing is now allowed (it´s one of the rules) so the invalid entry cannot be corrected. If editing was possible, people would abuse it and edit their guesses according to how the price of Hive is doing (it´s a tipping challenge where the participants guess the price of Hive) so I basically have no other choice anyway.

Have a nice day and I will be looking forward to seeing you in my challenges :)

Hi Phortun, thanks so much for the reply. Yes, that makes absolute sense especially with regards to the price challenge. Gee, I really don't know if I would have the guts to guess on that, perhaps once I've been watching the markets for much longer I would take a guess lol.

I'm always quite careful about what I enter into challenges and I tend to keep the post open and the re-read the rules a few times before, during and after the challenge to make sure I cover my bases. Also, I have an absolutely horrific memory (I attribute some of this to depression and some of it to lack of sleep), so I have to either write notes or take screenshots of things to refer back to. In a way, it makes sure that I stick to the rules on posts and entries :)

Have a good one and it's almost weekend yay!

Hehe, totally hear you :) Been struggling with memory and sleep too lately. But the tipping challenge is very easy (I mean the rules :D), feel free to check it out and leave your guess, the current round closes tomorrow ;) Good luck!
