This month I won't be running the usual competition, but don't worry, it's not over. Over Christmas and New Year, both @mattclarke’s and my own delegation will be with the @needleworkmonday community. Communities help to support so many people in their work, which is why I feel they're so important and worthwhile giving that extra support to. @needleworkmonday is a community, built by @crosheille, which supports content on needlework creations; sewing, knitting and crocheting.

Despite not running the competition as usual, I wanted to let people know where we're at and give out some @steembasicincome shares.

IMG_20180918_213115.jpg

I started this competition last year as a way of trying to pay it forward. I've been grateful to the support people had shown me on this platform and wanted to help reach out to share that with others. I'd seen how well some people had done getting delegations early on which helped them to build their account quickly, so I decided to go that route and offer a month's delegation myself. I was a low end minnow, so I couldn't offer much, but with the arrival of Resource Credits (RCs) in Hardfork 20, it would be enough to boost a small account to the point where they could interact without running out of RCs. The first winner was @cave-man and I extended the delegation to account for the downtime caused by the hardfork.

The next round of the competition @mattclarke offered to match the delegation, giving the new winner 100 SP for the month. This wasn't just a one off, he wanted to keep matching it for as long as the competition ran. Then, near the beginning of this year, I won my own delegation from Matt, which was to last to the end of the year. I had to share my good fortune and increased my delegation offering to 100 SP, which meant that the winner would receive 200 SP for the month.

Then another amazing person, @simplymike, jumped on board and delegated 200 SP to me in order to keep this competition going. This meant I could delegate 200 SP to two accounts each month! To date, delegations have gone to:

@cave-man
@stever82
@teutonium
@flamo
@maxbow
@mytechtrail
@daniscib
@chruuselbeeri
@maxwellmarcusart
@mrnightmare89
@chrismadcboy2016
@tormenta
@che-nie
@omnesplantae
@andrepol
@andreasalas
@needleworkmonday

@omnesplantae and @needleworkmonday are both community accounts, so I combined the delegations giving them a 400 SP boost.

Some of these accounts have gone from strength to strength, while some have gone dormant. One account had the delegation all month and did nothing with it. This is why I always say that if you want your account to grow you need to get involved. Matt and I are big believers in the comment. That's why the contest has the title it does. If people don't know you exist, they won't see your work. Your account can only grow if you interact and let people know you're there. Even the most supportive people will forget you're there if they don't see you, because they have plenty of others to support who are interacting and reminding them that they're there.

Another important aspect on here that I believes helps us to succeed is community. Community works both ways, however, so you can't just expect it to work for you without putting anything back in yourself. That's why my last format and my upcoming ones will be to get the entrants involved in promoting others for the delegation as well. Hopefully I'll make it a bit clearer moving forward.

So onto the contest and what you need to do to win some @steembasicincome shares.

It's simple; TALK TO ME!

Comment below, but make it about community. Not sure what to say? Here are some ideas:

  • I'd love to know what's been happening with all the previous winners; can you tell me about them? Do you know them and what they're doing now
    I'd love to hear what communities you enjoy on here. Who do you interact with and why do you enjoy interacting with them? What do you have in common with others?

  • Is there a community not on Steem that you'd like to see here? If so, would you be willing to build it yourself?

  • If you are a previous winner, say hi and let me know what you've been doing.

SBI shares will be given out, over the 7 day duration of the post, to the comments I feel are pertinent. In other words, keep it on topic and you'll get one. For those who make the most effort, i.e. responding to other posts too, there will be bonuses at the end.

I want to make my own local communities. I was try to build account like @steembassy @indowhale @activisteem @steembiosis , in the begining initially with the intention to support the community. Latest, I build @steem-ngapak to facilitate my friends friends, a local language in Java, especially Central Java. Ngapak a traditional language. @ steem-ngapak with the intention of becoming a container.

But indeed, after building dozens of accounts as supporters of the community, the community had not yet been formed to its full potential. some friend accounts like @aryceppy @yebe @ alesya12 @saesanget @ tapsir-purba @wongndeso @denbaguse @wongbejo cannot be active on Steem yet.

But of course, we still cannot despair.

This my post to contributing in community and steem :

I would encourage you to keep working at it. All communities start out slow, but build up over time. I hope yours continues to grow.

I'd like to give my thanks for the support you are showing the needleworkmonday crowd. I think the crafts section on steem is a little bit lacking, but as they grow perhaps other individuals will see that growth and then for other communities around other crafts.

Steem is showing some nice support toward the Photography Hobby, the drawing artist, and to digital artist, and a few other Niche type communities. It will be nice when we can see a Quilting Community and other craft related communities.

I appreciate your efforts, I may not always have time to stop by a lot of various communities, but I do like knowing that they are around if in the future one day I have a question about how to wire a track change in a model railway I am building it is nice to know someone on steem might be able to help. (that was just an example, right now I am not into model trains, but you never know).

To future model train fetishes!

Happily there does seem to be some movement in the crafts section with build it supporting created things now. NeedleworkMonday is growing slowly, but surely and I hope it continues to do so.

I'm one oft the needleworkers oft the Needleworkmonday. I think it's important to write about our hobbies here. It shows us and others that we are real people with a real life. Less posts about Steem, more using Steem to make posts ;)
There are people all over the globe sharing your interest, a divers group with different experiences. Sharing their knowledge, their projects here helps others. And generally there is a lot of engagement in hobby and craft and diy posts - the number of comments often is astonishing!

Thank you for your support of the @needleworkmonday community @bashadow! The main purpose for @needleworkmonday and the #needleworkmonday tag was to bring all needlework crafts together to share our work and passions, support one another and to inspire the Steemit blockchain. I noticed you mentioned a quilting community, we have quilting members as well. We support all needlework crafts including but not limited to:

• Sewing
• Crochet
• Knitting
• Cross-Stitch
• Embroidery
• Upholstery
• Needle Felting
• Quilting
• Beadwork
• String Art
• Appliqué
• Needle Lace
• Ribbon Work
• Tatting Work
• Textile Arts and Crafts
• Crewel Work
• Costume Artists
• Tapestry
• Macramé

So as you can see we the @needleworkmonday community have worked hard for the last two years to bring together needle crafters under one roof and it has been great thus far. Our growth has been slow but we are getting more and more people to find and use our tag and be apart of our community every week. It also helps when others tell people about our community when they see that they do needle crafts ;)

Thanks again for your support ~

I really like the Natural Medicine, PowerHouseCreatives, Innerblocks and Ecotrain communities, not only because of their content, but also because of their commitment to the platform and the huge amounts of work they put out to keep things active and fun.

I would really like to see a community dedicated to plant and mushroom identification. I would go and do it myself but for now I'll stick to improving the presence of this account.

Great post by the way, it's awesome you support the Steem community this way, thanks for doing so!

I feel like there might be a tag for the mushroom sure of things, which is how these things sometimes start.

The @omnesplantae account might interest you. They are geared more towards plant specifics rather than general gardening.

Greetings dear friend @minismallholding.

I loved the title of your post.
Personally I consider myself a fan of comments, in fact, these complement the content of each post.

It is precisely in the comments section where the bonds of fellowship and mutual support between the members are enhanced, therefore these are of vital importance.

The exchange of ideas is essential in any community, so these efforts that you carry out motivating participation are extremely valuable for the growth of members and the strengthening of accounts.

Some of these accounts have gone from strength to strength, while some have gone dormant. One account had the delegation all month and did nothing with it.

It is unfortunate that someone who has been benefited with a delegation does not know how to value the power granted to them. You should be constantly monitoring these cases to reassign these delegations to more active members.

Congratulations on your initiative.

All best, Piotr.

Thank you for contributing. I believe some of the best conversations can happen in the comments.

They keep the delegation for a month, because that's the promise. I think it's probably a good idea to have that cut off, however, for those who don't make the best use of it.
