I have FREEWRITE FAVORITES to hyperlink here!

@wandrnrose7

Some freewrites hit you deeply. The one entitled Bitch by @mariannewest did that for me.

I know those feelings well and I understand a spiritual awakening that comes in a relationship where person that you are with has nothing but insults throw at you. There was a time but I remain silent no matter what the insults were but then I remember coming to myself one day and Responding back to the insult with "As a matter of fact I am a bitch. Do you enjoy what you created?" There's really only two directions you can go in this type of a relationship, you can believe it learn to hate yourself or you can rise above walkaway. I chose to do what this character did... I walked away. Great job, @mariannewest!

@janaveda

Hello @freewritehouse,
Seeing the rules of this contest I thought: very interesting contest, it is a good opportunity to find a writer who is starting on steemit who is undervalued by his very condition of being new to the platform. So, I looked for a while until I found @naitore, who defines himself as an unpredictable writer.

With less than fifteen days on Steemit, he has published a series of short stories, the last of his stories: Short Fiction # 12 | Pause, Play, Pause, I thought it was very good. I think it has a lot of potential for you to be encouraged to read their stories. As he becomes familiar with the rules and forms of steemit he will be more successful. He quotes the sources of the images he uses, but not the link....

@mariannewest, in response to @janaveda, clarifies:

We are so happy that you are participating in this contest. Just one little thing. This contest is to support the freewriters - a group of people who are participating in the daily freewrite prompt. You find the prompt @mariannewest . It is published daily around 7 am Pacific time. Anyone can participate and this contest is one way to support the writers that do. You are invited to participate as well.

@iamraincrystal

Time for the weekly freewrite recommendation once again. I challenged myself to do this on a regular basis.
I got interested when I read this freewrite. Plus, it said to be continued I don't want to spoil your fun, but I will most definitely wait for the continuation. ^_^ I love the Halloween vibe....

From @honeydue

The Bedtime Man (freewrite story)
I read the first part last week. I thought the story needed an ending. True enough, there's a second part. Now, I'm actually waiting for more... I love the mystery part. So what's going to happen next? ^_^

From @justclickindiva

The Package - Part 2: The smell from within (Weekend Freewrite - Single Prompt Option) 10/26/19

FWH-faves.png

@deirdyweirdy

I'd like to recommend the Damp Conditions free write by @myjob, well actually, I'd like to recommend all of her free writes for there's rarely a dull moment in any of them. She writes in such a matter of fact way, this time about a hurricane destroying her home, living in a tent then a camper for 18 months whilst rebuilding, only to have her refurbished place seized by the local authorities six months later. It's a catalogue of disasters to be sure, but deftly told and well worth a read.

FWH-faves.png

@onyechi

@inthenow no added sugar - I can relate to this, imagine going to a restaurant and being served something without taste, yuck, I love how he told his story, straight and precise.

Past Payout, but...

@wwwiebe gut feeling - Talks about her life as a parent and it reminded me of your mom, she's not good at singing but she'll never agree, I always tell her to stop singing,she also loves yelling...

NOTE #1:
To keep "Work-from-home dad" @wwwiebe from missing out on an upvote, I found a more recent @wwwiebe post:

NOTE #2:
In addition to promoting comments, we endorse checking out the author's home page - (#FOLLOW too if you would) - and, going back to @janaveda's reminder on identifying [source] + (URL) of the images we use in our posts, @wwwiebe can check off that box.

FWH-faves.png

@wakeupkitty

I recommend @inthenow with Trick and treat. No need to tell (most of) you what the subject of the freewrite is. If you don't know it I tell you "Halloween". There is no Halloween custom in my country and it is clear the world the writer lives in is not as big as mine. Nevertheless there is an interesting question about change of habit if it comes to celebrations asked. The only thing I can do is agree with the writer. Stubborn me would not join the new habit and stay home and... no treats!
You can read yourself and leave the writer a comment or better upvote.
Happy (Hallo ween)Day. 💕

@marblely

This week, I enjoyed reading and then pretending to sing or rap to @nathanthewise's https://steempeak.com/freewrite/@nathanthewise/day-738-5-minute-freewrite-monday-prompt-no-added-sugar. I think this freewrite was very different, creative, poetic in a tasteful and cool sense, song-like and the lines click like a rap song with the prompt "no sugar added". I liked the variety in the words used. Maybe someday, he might rap his freewrite? :)

FWH-faves.png

@owasco

Aliens Grintza and her brother Grintze come to Earth to find a leader among the creatures on the planet, one to represent the Earth in some sort of galactic organization. Who Grintza chooses is a funny and heart-warming surprise in @wwwiebe's freewrite for the prompt "represent".

The prompt "represent" brought out the best of @carolkean too. While referencing her hellfire and brimstone unpbringing, she discusses a whole heavenly host of topics regarding religion and faith in this post.
Check out the comments too, because some great stuff shows up there.

Lastly, Uncle Bruni gave me quite a chuckle with his particular take on the prompt "no added sugar". In it he proposes a soution to first world problems with a cherry on top! @wonderwop knows how to reward himself. Find out how in his very short and sweet freewrite:

Did I get these in on time?

Oops! Note from Carol: Busy weekends + the number of hours it takes me to do Friday Favorites has led to some confusion over the deadline to nominate. I've been know to post ahead of schedule. Ahem. Not to worry! I can edit the post and add "late" Favorites!

FWH-faves.png

@felixgarciap

This week I recommend three publications that have caught my attention:
A master class in the consumption of products. no added sugar has given us @wandrnrose7 in Divorcing Sugar

@snook also tells us the complete odyssey of his character who wanted to buy his mother an ice cream in When a Boy becomes a Man

@fitinfun shows us her work to get out of the shadows on steemit helping others in Am I in the Shadows of STEEM? - Freewrite Day 737

FWH-faves.png

@whatisnew

Unless you have been living under a rock, you know how much work @fitnfun puts into helping others on this platform. Here you can find a long list of people and communities that she represents. She also just found out that she won the Conference Fee to STEEMfest in Bangkok. Congratulations Sharon on your well deserved win! She needs help for other expenses. Find out how you can help by reading her post.

I always like a fun freewrite that makes me smile and @nathanthewise did just that. He tells how he is a big fan of freewriting in a fun way with a beat that will surely brighten your day.

FWH-faves.png

@carolkean

@sarez
has grown so much since he first started with #Freewritehouse. One thing is a constant: he can pull a *Surprise Twist at the end like no other. And this story, I'm guessing for Day 741: 5 Minute Freewrite: Thursday - Prompt: peak, blows me away. I love Darry!!!! His humility and his protectiveness of the listening children have to be READ to be appreciated.

Summoning @curie, @appreciator, @pifc, @tipu...

I feel for the bear that terrorizes Darry, but I read
Richard Adams' "Shardik"

at age 16 and decades later, I've still not gotten over it.

He did it! @sarez earned a #curie for this! Thank you @curie!

@myrockandocean,

I love this story about a woman who does what several of my own protagonists have done, but that isn't why I love it so much. This is a polished, well written piece, and it's succinct and inspiring.

….something is missing in her life, if not someone, then it could be anything that money cannot buy. She packs a bag and go, deactivates her social media accounts and switches off the phone. She embarks on a new journey, taking two connecting flights, an overnight train and the two-hour bus and there she is, in a …

I'm not telling where she ends up! It's a quick read; see for yourself.

Our own @fitinfun, a curator for @tipu, curated @myrockandocean's story:

@mr-neil

reminds me (in a good way!) of one of the very rare horror writers I ever read (I avoid horror!) - and only a great writer can get me to read horror: Harvey Click, The Bad Box. I love the playful intro, the dark seque to the young man in the box, and the return to the boy in the box. (No spoilers! Honest!)

I also love the comment section, of course!
@mr-neil
Considering that horror is not my genre either. I usually write to escape, but I was remembering some darker personal episodes which happened to me when I was younger.

@wwwiebe

made me smile (and think of Aesop's fox and the sour grapes) with this freewrite.

I love his fresh take on "Sugar and spice" vs the ol' "snips and snails and puppy dog tails," and I especially love this line:

We all know that girls are made of "sugar and spice and everything nice" and that boys.. well.. they aren't. We boys are apparently made of used motor oil, the odour of a neverending tire fire, and probably over-ripe avocado.

"Snook Made Me Do It"

@inthenow, for that hashtag alone, #snookmademedoit, I would have nominated this freewrite. What a dark noir, James Bond style, cold-hearted woman on a mission to...um....well, I'm not gonna tell. See for yourself:

FWH-faves.png

@fitinfun

I have two out of three fictions today. Such a change. Also taking this chance to say I will not do reminder work for Sunday's prompt for the next two weeks due to STEEMFest travel.

Excellent and interesting story by @wwwiebe - stolen format or not. I would like to see this tale continue. Very entertaining.

@wonderwop is partying in the cold Texas night and making me miss the place!

Nice to see the lawn chair back from @bashadow with a fast paced and interesting tale.

FWH-faves.png

Curie! Who earned @curie's attention this week?

First....
Do these freewrites take longer than 5 minutes to draft, edit, and polish? I hope so! The prompt, the timer, the imperative to write-write-write nonstop for five minutes: that's only stage one! (Those of you who do great things in that short time, we admire you. And I want to kidnap your muse and put her to work for me.)

#thisisawesome is another tag to click on and see what has been deemed awesome

This post is AWESOME!
It has therefore got a manual 100% upvote from @thisisawesome, for the Awesome Daily Upvotes in category Freewrite, I give out 1 such vote in that category per day, plus 3 more in other categories, and your post will also be featured in todays Awesome Daily report for more visibility.
The goal of this project is to "highlight Awesome Content, and growing the Steem ecosystem by rewarding it".

@fitinfun now a curator for @tipu and can give out some good votes!

Click on the image below to get to her post. I've tried to explain and use #tipu myself, but I kept running out of funds after so many auto-upvotes. Now @tipu has changed since "The Fork" (hardfork).

Today I got on the list to be a @tipu curator.
@tipu has changed from whatever it used to be to a new system now after the fork.
The project is just getting off the ground with changes, and you can read their updates here: https://steempeak.com/@tipu

See the leaderboard of curators here: https://tipu.online/curators

The basic idea is that we little people can curate posts for others (and our own posts) with the big SP @tipu has. It is 2.5 million SP with most of that delegated from someone else.

@TheLuvBug was launched in March 2018 and has been doing its utmost to support the really hard workers here on the Steemit platform by upvoting and resteeming their content. It would be AMAZING if we were able to support more people, more often - and with your help, we can do that!

I don't know much yet about this one, but #WhaleSlap! comes to mind:

My experience with @slowwalker or how @Art-venture project came to live

In August of 2018 after being a year on Steemit and having 1000SP we decided to help small users, who despite of being talented were undervalued. We @stef1 and @myskye decided to ask for delegation but so that it is transparent and the Delegator know that SteemPower will be used only for undervalued Artist we decided to create completely separate account so @art-venture was born.

Another #shoutout to volunteers who deliver the new day's prompt

@deirdyweirdy, @whatisnew, @wonderwop, @owasco, @fitinfun, @botefarm

And here's hoping the busy-work will not keep them from WRITING.

I tried that job for a while, and I can tell you, the Prompt Delivery Team members deserve recognition.

Ah, the comments!

I'm revisiting The War of Art by Steve Pressfield.
This:

"Any support we get from persons of flesh and blood is like Monopoly money; it's not legal tender in that sphere where we have to do our work. In fact, the more energy we spend stoking up on support from colleagues and loved ones, the weaker we become and the less capable of handling our business."

Eh. Pressfield wasn't talking about Steemit.

Let's keep the comments coming!

Happy Friday from @carolkean

@mariannewest's really struck a cord with me as I have just finished reading the bok "The Power Of Now". Right at the end it talks about why people who have had abusive relationships may gravitate towards another abusive partner unconciously.
A powerful Freewrite!

I've read various books on the same subject.
I've known too many women in this situation. (There must be husbands and boyfriends suffering the same way, but I don't seem to hear their point of view.)
It's soooo frustrating that the more we want to Stage an Intervention and "help," the more likely we are to create Resistance and just deepen the denial this woman is in.
Anyone with advice beyond "patiently wait it out and just continue show your love and support", I'm listening.

@carolkean thank you so much for all you do!! You are going into so much detail and make everyone mentioned in the post feel so special!!
Thank you for showcasing the freewriters that got recognized by curie and others - especially since there are still freewrite haters out there who think that we shouldn't publish freewrites on Steem. Obviously, they haven't read any 😳
So happy that you are doing this!! But you know, when you don't have time, feel free to skip.
