Steem Basic Income Giveaway: Your Lockscreen Picture...

Thanks to everyone who entered into my last SBI giveaway about Your Favourite Childhood Toy! It was really interesting to see the diversity of toys... some of whom are lost to time, and others of which are passed to the next generation in a well-loved form!

This week, I have been noticing other people's lockscreens... and what photo/image that they tend to put on it... mostly, it appears to be either family photos or more likely, just whatever came with the phone!

My Question

  1. What is your lockscreen/background photo on your phone/computer? You can just describe it if you don't want to post a photo of your family or something like that... or you don't know how to get the image!

Cataclysm by Samer Zayer

One of the best things that I love about Android, is the endless customisation options at a user level... and even more if you are technically minded and don't mind rooting your phone. Anyway, my wife's phone has a backdrop that cycles every day through various paintings from Western Art History...

However, I use an app called Backdrops (on Android Playstore) to get some really awesome background art for both my homescreen and lockscreen. Above is my lockscreen cover art, which is an image called Cataclysm by Samer Zayer.... it's definitely not a family photo!

... and my homescreen background art is this slightly more soothing piece called Eternal Night, also by Samer Zayer (I appear to have an affinity for his style!). Definitely two slightly contrasting pieces from the same artist... I've stuck with these for over a year... I used to have a daily rotating artwork from the NASA gallery, but for some reason that stopped working... and also, sometimes the featured "art" was a little... crap. Sometimes it was Hubble shots, other times it would be a graph of something...

Steem Basic Income

One of the first communities that I came in contact with at the beginning of my time at Steemit was @steembasicincome. As a author starting out on your fresh new Steemit account, Steemit can be a daunting and lonely place to be. OFten, it can feel like you are posting into an abyss with no one listening and with no ability to grow out of the situation. A share of Steem Basic Income gives you a guaranteed vote on one post a day, thus giving you a small but over time cumulative support to your account to help grow you out of your initial wilderness!

With this post, I want to help sponsor people who might not even have the spare 1 STEEM that is required for registration. So, when this post pays out, I will sponsor people depending on the payout of this post. Basically, I will round up the SBD payout from this post and then that will be the number of people I will sponsor. (So, if the payout is 2.3 SBD, I will sponsor 3 people). OF course, this is not simply an altruistic move, as the sponsor of a Steem Basic Income share also gets a share, so it is a great way to help others whilst helping yourself!

My lockscreen picture for the phone is just a black background. My smartphone is 2,5 years old, so the battery has lost some capacity since I bought it, and it has AMOLED screen, so black backgrounds increases energy efficiency.

In the computer I have one of the default Windows 10 images. I haven´t change it since I reinstalled my computer with an SSD this summer. It is clear and not distracting.

Haha... that is a familiar sight from reinstalling new Windows installs! Somehow, it is quite soothing in a way... a sign that the installation is almost done!

This is my lock screen:

I spend a lot of time at my desk at work so it is good to think of being in a calm and peaceful place when times get stressful.

I'm just a young lad who's also a Korean pop fan (like my sisters) so naturally my background is Irene from the group Red Velvet during their Russian Roulette comeback phase. They have catchy songs and it's like ear candy for me. That's why I like them.

Well, my phone lock screen is vivo s1 defaults and my homepage background is a picture of me and my daughter on Christmas last year.

I always use my own photos for my lockscreen on my phone. I change them out, but for now I wanted a bright and cheery winter picture and this is the one that is on my phone. lyvekm.jpg

I sometimes use my art as lockscreen, or a personal photo of my beautiful lake, I change maybe one or two time a year, but since a few months i have this one that is a picture of my two youngers because I really love this shot (I would prefer to have a photo with the 3 of them but I have none that fit the dimension of my phone...LoL)

Thanks for hosting this SBI giveaway @bengy! I bet it'll be lots of fun to see all the different background pics. Right now my background on my pc is me on the top of Pine Mountain after a fun winter climb up the North Backbone to the summit! I haven't even posted about this trip yet, so you're getting a little sneak peak here! lol.

Thanks @bengy! I didn't have the time/energy to get all the way out to Mt. Baldy. It's a long way via the North Backbone route. It's pretty tough even in the summer when there isn't any snow.

And I have an extra interest for that! You see the past 3 years I have made up a personal challenge to take a new picture on the first day of each and every month and share it with my friends. At some point I started writing a post on steem with my happy new month wishes using the #happynewmonth tag. The selected picture is my lock-screen for all my devises (pc, laptop, phone) cropped accordingly to fit to all of them. For February is a shot of the freshwater spring a few meters away from my doorstep! You can see the relevant post here!

This is a great shot! I love the look of the water as it is falling... I'm pretty surprised it doesn't make more of a splash when hitting the still water though!

There is no splash because this is a 5 seconds shot with the use of ND filters. The low shutter speed smooths every moving part.

Normally i have a picture i made myself on my screen. But that's because photography is my passion. Now a days i have a quote on my screen.
Its in dutch but this is the translation. I dont know if this works in English but i hope you get it!

I am suffering from burn-out and depression so this is for the times that it is a little bit harder!

The screen on my iPad that I use most of the time is a plain blue background. On the computer screen I have This scene of Panmure Island Lighthouse.

This is my lockscreen. My Windows 10 sends me pictures each week, then asks me if I like them. Next, the ones I approve, then rotate on my login screen. I love serene settings, anything by the sea or oceans. Also, I love pictures of historic places.

The image for my computer lock-screen is a mashup of one of my favorite comics (Transmetropolitan), and a quote that seems apt for the character.

This picture is what is on my phone. For pc, I still have the windows 10 wallpaper which us blue with a window on one side and light coming from it
