Steem Basic Income Giveaway: Most Annoying Sound?

Wow... I'm stunningly behind on my Contests... well, I am going to make the excuse that I'm travelling a fair bit at the moment, and thus falling pretty behind on anything STEEM related! Thanks for everyone who replied back to the Stairs or Lifts question... I'm going to try and make it a quicker turn around for this coming round!

This week, I'm asking about what you think your least favourite sound is... our modern world is full of lots of sounds and noises, and most of it just noise pollution... background noise that is just unnessary.... and in many cases avoidable! As a musician, I tend to have a bit of a double edged approach to this... I tend to hear relatively well, but I can focus to avoid listening to things that I don't want ot listen to... however, when I'm tired... things start to get to me!

My Question

  1. What is your least favourite sound?

My sample answer

Oh... there are so many things I could have put here... but what really drives me nuts are the people who don't disable or silence their phone's noise taps! ploop, ploop, ploop... as they type away... ARRRRRGH! Even worse than the people who don't silence their notifications, and then receive SMS/WhatsApps at the rate of 10 per second...

Just thinking about these things already drives me nuts!

Anyway, other things that I find annoying are the old Mac OS startup CLANG! ... and "background" piped music... why have music in shopping centres/malls? Music is meant to be listened to... not to add to the decibel level of the background noise!

Steem Basic Income

One of the first communities that I came in contact with at the beginning of my time at Steemit was @steembasicincome. As a author starting out on your fresh new Steemit account, Steemit can be a daunting and lonely place to be. OFten, it can feel like you are posting into an abyss with no one listening and with no ability to grow out of the situation. A share of Steem Basic Income gives you a guaranteed vote on one post a day, thus giving you a small but over time cumulative support to your account to help grow you out of your initial wilderness!

With this post, I want to help sponsor people who might not even have the spare 1 STEEM that is required for registration. So, when this post pays out, I will sponsor people depending on the payout of this post. Basically, I will round up the SBD payout from this post and then that will be the number of people I will sponsor. (So, if the payout is 2.3 SBD, I will sponsor 3 people). OF course, this is not simply an altruistic move, as the sponsor of a Steem Basic Income share also gets a share, so it is a great way to help others whilst helping yourself!

My least favorite sound is a baby’s cry in the middle of the night the first day you return home from the hospital. The reason is as a parent you feel so helpless and are so tired.

The sound of someone chewing with their mouth open. It’s so cringeworthy and it’s really not a good idea to call someone out on it unless they can take it as a joke. Thanks for the SBI share from the last giveaway.

Ack... I hate that too... especially when people aren't trying to be discreet about it either. Whenever I have a phone call incoming, I leave the room.

The noise the debit/credit card machines in stores make when your transaction is completed. It makes an irritating sound, it reminds me of the wrong answer buzzer they use d on game shows.

I think it is intended to remind you to remove your card. But, I wish they had a better sound or voice saying thank you.

Mosquitos in the middle of the night are the worst! Flies don't bother me quite so much, but the high pitched sound reminding you that you will be bitten? the WORST!

Dare I say my least favorite sound like the sound of a fork on a kitchen frying pan scraping it. Dear god for some reason It just makes me have the sensation behind my nose of regret and pain urgh... :( ...

I think my least favourite will be a baby crying in a bus. Often, they start crying when the bus is very quiet. Their cries just pierces my soul and it makes my head ache all of a sudden. It's too bad.

Musician. Yes, I get that. For that reason, one of the sounds that annoys me most is any voice (my own, especially) singing out of tune. Even if it's just a little bit. Truly, however, I hope that there is a special place in hell for people who play reggaeton at such a volume that you . . . No, no qualification: For people who play reggaeton.

Car alarms that go off when people do not know how to use their cars. Especially the same alarm going off every single day at the same time.

Haha.. guilty! Although, I only did it once for this hire car... I used the key to open the door... and suddenly there was this countdown, and I was frantically looking for the disabler... too late!

The "buzzer alarm" tone on my phone. It is so annoying that I have kept that as alarm tone to wake me up. I think the other noises can be avoided but not the alarm 😟

Ha... that is a pretty annoying one! I normally have my phone completely silent (no vibration either...), so not something that I have to worry about... I know it definitely isn't mine!

Oh gosh, i hate to hear that sound. It drives me crazy. HOWEVER, the sound that is the worst to me is someone chewing their nails, especially when their are fi gernail clippers right next to them. The slerping, chewing, spitting, and nashing of teeth just set me off.

Traffic noise, not sure how to remedy, try switch off, not that easy!

Close runner up are cell phones where people insist the button sounds must be on loud for the whole world to know they are able to tick tick tick on them.... urgh I need another coffee!

Tick tick tick... yep, that was really my top hate! Traffic noise is pretty annoying, I use noise cancelling headphones now... but that isn't any good if you need to be aware of your surroundings!

When people are playing music from their phone speaker, it sounds so awful and muffled making it pointless in the first place, and annoying as you have to listen to that rubbish even if it's a good song it still sounds awful from the speakers of the phone on loud.
