Steem Basic Income Giveaway: Hoarding....

avatar

Thanks to everyone who took part in the last SBI Giveaway about your Lockscreen! There were some really truly amazing photos and lockscreens to see! Glad that not everyone has a feature of their loved ones!

Anyway, this week... we soldier on under the anti-SBI downvotes to think about a new topic! Hoarding... is there something that you just keep buying to have stock for that future apocalypse... or just anticipating future use? I can't help it... when certain things are on sale... I just keep buying them!

My Question

  1. Is there a particular product or thing that you just keep buying and now you have a crazy hoard of?

My sample answer

Yep... toilet paper. Maybe it is my Asian heritage or something, it is something that I remember my parent's doing. There would always be a huge cupboard filled completely with toilet paper... and now, I started doing it for my own house as well. Initially, my wife would be calling me crazy... but then she has started doing it as well!

It goes well with the other things that I stock... dishwashing liquid! I think we have enough dishwashing liquid to last until the next decade.

However, if and when the zombie apocalypse comes... you will all be jealous of my clean butt and homemade napalm!

Rules

  1. Upvote if you want, it increases the payout and then I can hopefully sponsor more people.
  2. Resteem is NOT neccessary, but the more people see this, the more the people will be likely to be sponsored.
  3. In the comments, answer as best as you can the questions that are posed in the "My Questions"!
  4. I have added a small Steem-Bounty to the post, so that everyone who replies with a valid entry will get something back. If I give your post a small upvote, it is valid (also, subscribe to @dustsweeper for maximum benefit!).
  5. I will be sponsoring as many people as this post pays out in liquid SBD/STEEM. Also I will kick in at least the required amount to round up to the full number. Winner is by random generator after a shortlisting of quality comments!

Steem Basic Income

One of the first communities that I came in contact with at the beginning of my time at Steemit was @steembasicincome. As a author starting out on your fresh new Steemit account, Steemit can be a daunting and lonely place to be. OFten, it can feel like you are posting into an abyss with no one listening and with no ability to grow out of the situation. A share of Steem Basic Income gives you a guaranteed vote on one post a day, thus giving you a small but over time cumulative support to your account to help grow you out of your initial wilderness!

With this post, I want to help sponsor people who might not even have the spare 1 STEEM that is required for registration. So, when this post pays out, I will sponsor people depending on the payout of this post. Basically, I will round up the SBD payout from this post and then that will be the number of people I will sponsor. (So, if the payout is 2.3 SBD, I will sponsor 3 people). OF course, this is not simply an altruistic move, as the sponsor of a Steem Basic Income share also gets a share, so it is a great way to help others whilst helping yourself!

Last week's winners

The last post paid out 0.012 SBD and 0.056 STEEM in liquid earnings. So, that would make 1 share.

The winners by random draw are:

Phew... that is a lot of electronics! I have a bunch of old laptops and desktops... probably around 8 of them... not quite a dumpster... and I always plan to have them around to refurbish for some use or another...

For some reason, I hang on to pens and pencils. I have about a dozen just on my desk alone. The drawer has close to a hundred and spread throughout the house, I'd say easily 2000. I don't mean to, just do. Like if I go to the bank, I keep their pen. Simpy because once it's in my hand, it feels like a part of me so I don't let it go LOL!

LOL! My oldest daughter does the same.... although, really... do you even pinch the ones that they try to tie down as well?!?!?!?

Believe it or not, I've accidentally snapped a few cords not thinking about it because it was in my hand LOL like at the post office. They all laughed pretty hard at me. Wasn't like a fancy pen, just a normal black bic, but it was in my hand soooo...off it went with me. LOL

LOL... and this one just happened to be locked down with a chain... and the chainsaw just went through it... and then I just happened to be holding the pen!

Nutella would be my answer. It's not very healthy but I am addicted to the stuff. Whenever I see them on sale, I buy 3-4 pots which ultimately saves me about 20$ on buying them at normal price. Definitely worth it. I started doing this for other stuff as well but there isnt as clear a pattern for those things yet.

Oh Nutella... I bet you were a bit scared when they were thinking of cancelling it! Have you tried making it yourself?

Thank you for the Prize. I enjoys your contests and I'm glad that you tag me everytime so I won't miss it.

And now for this week entry.
Let see.

This is a picture of my homemade snacks and if anything goes wrong I think that I will ne buying fews things.

  • Flour
  • Sugar
  • Salt
  • Mineral water in boxes
  • Rice
  • my little one diapers and milk powder.

I think we'll survive on this 😅😅😅
But I may get jealous on your clean butt as you said.

By the way, what is napalm?

Phew... that is a lot of things to have on hand! I remember when our kids were still in nappies, we would also stock up on those when they were on sale. They are really expensive!

They are indeed expensive and they also finish quickly especially the milk powder. I think this is why sales are always being the first thing to be catch up with. 🤭

I hoard things like Coca-Cola bottle caps, zippers, fire extinguisher pins, cork, but those things I don't buy. They sort of just come to me. What I do buy that I have amassed a huge hoard of is skeleton keys. I must have over a thousand just sitting in some boxes in a drawer and a few scattered around the house. They have no use and are only for collector's value so they're probably not going anywhere. I also hoard seeds but I'm trying not to buy those anymore. Three only ones I'm saving are coming from my garden. At least they will be used at some point.

Fire extinguisher pins?!?!?!.... hopefully not from active ones!.... skeleton keys? That is also an interesting and strange one!

I seem to have a thing for buying chopping boards, mainly wooden ones, but any cute different ones will do.

I brought home one that was on sale a few weeks ago and hubby asked me where I was going to put it as we already had four. He has two old ones I gave him to get rid of and thought he could use in the garage. He doesn’t have any use for them. 😂

LOL! You couldn't have tried hoarding something smaller?!?!?....

(Edited)

They stack nicely and some are small and round. 😂
The one on the top is the one we use the most for chopping veggies, etc.

I have a bunch of jerrycans with water in them! The tap water in the Netherlands is good for consumption. But in the Netherlands the land is sinking, that's because we live on a swamp :p Al the houses are build on piles that are on the hard sand layer at 30 meters deep. The main water lines are in the soft layer of clay and peat! often the pipes are damaged because the sink faster than the pipes that are stuck on the house inlet! And then you don't have running water any more :D

Storing drinking water? I haven't ever had the water pipes go (yet...)... I'm just outside Den Haag... but perhaps our time will come!

I have a bunch of custom hats from Grassroots California. They make some epic designs, I probably had at least 50 of them at one time, but I've started to sell some. I don't wear them out much anymore, but they are really cool collectibles.
