Steem Basic Income Giveaway: Are you a Ninja?

avatar

Thanks to all the entries from nearly two weeks back... Rational or Emotional, it was interesting to see how people thought of themselves! I'm curious to know if what we think of ourselves in this regard is also the same way that people on the outside view us...

Anyway, this week... my little family has divided itself into Ninjas and non-ninjas. My oldest daughter and I are definitely the ninjas in the family... we don't walk into things, we walk lightly and do pretty good in the dark. My youngest and my wife... are not...

My Question

  1. Are you a Ninja? or are you a Samurai (aka, klutz...)?

My sample answer

Unsplash

As I mentioned before, my oldest and I move pretty softly... and we manage to have a decent awareness of the space around us, so we would class ourselves as the Ninjas of the family. We are also the quieter ones, and will often have sharper hearing just because we aren't making all the noise! Dim light and darkness isn't a problem for us, we seem to adapt well to the darkness and moving around in the dark.

However, this is contrasted with our other family members... who seem to manage to walk into things and step on things and just plain stomp around everywhere! Earlier this week, my wife suddenly got a shock this morning as my oldest had walked in in the early morning whilst she was in the shower... and because it was early it was dark... so when she got out, she didn't realise that there was someone waiting for her in the corridor until she touched her! Anyway, she told me this morning that she really can't see anything in low light... it is pitch black for her, when the ninjas can see pretty clearly (and yet I'm the one with glasses....).

Rules

  1. Upvote if you want, it increases the payout and then I can hopefully sponsor more people.
  2. Resteem is NOT neccessary, but the more people see this, the more the people will be likely to be sponsored.
  3. In the comments, answer as best as you can the questions that are posed in the "My Questions"!
  4. I have added a small Steem-Bounty to the post, so that everyone who replies with a valid entry will get something back. If I give your post a small upvote, it is valid (also, subscribe to @dustsweeper for maximum benefit!).
  5. I will be sponsoring as many people as this post pays out in liquid SBD/STEEM. Also I will kick in at least the required amount to round up to the full number. Winner is by random generator after a shortlisting of quality comments!

Steem Basic Income

One of the first communities that I came in contact with at the beginning of my time at Steemit was @steembasicincome. As a author starting out on your fresh new Steemit account, Steemit can be a daunting and lonely place to be. OFten, it can feel like you are posting into an abyss with no one listening and with no ability to grow out of the situation. A share of Steem Basic Income gives you a guaranteed vote on one post a day, thus giving you a small but over time cumulative support to your account to help grow you out of your initial wilderness!

With this post, I want to help sponsor people who might not even have the spare 1 STEEM that is required for registration. So, when this post pays out, I will sponsor people depending on the payout of this post. Basically, I will round up the SBD payout from this post and then that will be the number of people I will sponsor. (So, if the payout is 2.3 SBD, I will sponsor 3 people). OF course, this is not simply an altruistic move, as the sponsor of a Steem Basic Income share also gets a share, so it is a great way to help others whilst helping yourself!

Last week's winners

The last post paid out 0 SBD and 1.21 STEEM in liquid earnings. So, that would make 2 shares.

The winners by random draw are:

I don't think I'm a ninja. I always bump into things the night. I like to think I'm a ninja but I always tread on the creaky floorboards. On top of that, the rest of my family are very perceptive and hear me even while they sleep, causing them to wake.

Haha... my wife is the same. She tries to sneak... but she may as well just turn on the lights and stomp through... it would be quicker!

Thanks for the SBI!

For the ninja question, that depends.
My former students might say, I am like one, because I tended to sneak up on them from behind to startle ... er ... to great them. But then again, these students were Chinese & Chinese in general are very ignorant of their surroundings.
I may walk rather quietly, but also quite clumsily. So, as a ninja, I wouldn't live very long because I would fall into my own sword rather sooner than later.

Haha... how is it possible to be quiet but clumsy? Doesn't being clumsy mean that you make more noise?

Well, sneaking up on students is usually done in hallways or outside on campus, so not much to stumble over.
When I'm at home, though, & something is not in the place it should be in, there is a high probability that I will run into it. The pavements in China were also quite dangerous for me because the stones all too often don't line up properly. Particularly Changsha was hell for me.

I'm a ninja because I always go in a silent place. I don't want people to notice me and I do love walking silently. Maybe that thing make me a ninja. lol

Defnitely sounds ninja to me... unless you think you are quiet and in are in fact quite loud!

I'd say i'm a ninja. Plenty of times people would be shocked that i'm standing next to them without me even sneaking. I just happen to move quietly naturally

Being a natural is even better! Then you can get even quieter by trying.. or does that make it worse?

LOL i think trying to sneak makes it worse because you're so conscious of what you are trying to do but when you just naturally don't think about it and show up next to someone or behind them its that much more sneaky

I like to think I’m a ninja as I do well in dim light but I can be clumsy when moving fast. As a kid I was always stubbing my toe when running, then falling and scraping my knees. My knees were constantly skinned.

I am careful in my old age but still will dash ahead without caution.

To answer the question: I am part ninja and a lot of samurai. 😂

Haha... I think we are all quite a bit of a combination... however, your version sounds quite painful!

Lol... I'm far too clumsy to be a ninja.
'careful' is not a word that is in my dictionary, and I'm completely blind in the dark...

Great combination then!... lots of broken furniture in your house?

@bengy, Difficult to put that into an Perspective, but in my opinion with time we play the different roles. Sometimes we get to know that we are playing an role which we haven't played ever, so in my opinion Time revels us. Stay blessed.

Ah yes... it was more if you considered yourself a quiet mover that is well aware of surroundings... or not!

I am mostly in the klutz category, @bengy. I have health issues and balance issues, so I can fall down easily. Since I lost "half my size" a few years ago, I am better able to survive these falls.

But I am a ninja in invisibility. I can move easily in crowded places where other people become perturbed. It's easy for me to find my way and no one notices me when I do this.

Ah yes... being able to lose yourself in and move easily through crowds is a great skill... I love trying to do that, it keeps the mind sharp and reflexes quick as you try to move swiftly without hitting people... it's like jumping and running along the rocks on the coastline or riverbed!

I tend to walk uncertainly/with caution in the dark, sometimes I even walk into things (for example into a wall or into a door), but this is not a big surprise, because I am visually impaired, so I am not a ninja. I am probably a samurai.

Yep... some people definitely identify more as the samurai! Less sneaky and more upfront!
