With the spirit crushing holiday season upon me...I've been doing my best this year to just ignore it. That means keep my head down and working. I have plenty to work on and some of it are commissions. This one here I'm about to show you if a request from fellow steemian @cutthruyou ...or at least he WAS a fellow steemian. He hasn't posted in awhile.

Can you blame him?

Pay attention whales, who have invested your money into steemit...and watched the value of steem drop down to .20 on the dollar. Steemit inc. has not only done jack squat to grow this platform, it is actively f8cking it up. As a creative type I am vexed, insulted, and annoyed every time I look at my feed and see the "featured posts". Why? Because they never feature any work of any of the creative types that make it worth coming to this place. We as a whole...the musicians, the writers, the comedians, the artists...are completely...COM-PLETE-LY overlooked.

You think anyone is here for godless crypto nerd circle jerking blogs? They are not.

Ask yourself, what this platform would be worth if all the creative types left to go to Minds, or Pocketnet, or anywhere else and all that was left is the crypto talk. What do you think your steem would be worth? about .001 USD

You whales out there...give a look at the steemit twitter page. You see ANYTHING on there lately that ANY normal random social media user would give a fuck about? no. you don't.

They have a twitter page, that I ASSUME...is there as a form of outreach, that gives ZERO emphasis to all the top tier content you can see on the platform.

In the time I have been on steemit there have been several really really bad news stories concerning FB, there has been an exodus from Tumblr because of censorship, exodus from youtube because of censorship, twitter is announcing a crackdown that will surely cause an exodus from there....and has steemit inc managed to capitalize on any of that? fuck no.

You know who WAS smart enough to scoop up some of those people? Pornhub. PORNHUB posted several times that artists leaving tumblr are welcome on THEIR site and will face no censorship. Did pornhub do this because they were drunk? NO...they did it because they know the value of new people coming on board, they know the value of expanding, they know the value of bringing people on board who have a following...a thousand people with a small following adds up to a lot of new users.

That was free money...that tumblr dropped on the floor.

That was free fucking money and steemit inc was too bloody stupid to start raising a little hell about how much freedom creative types can find on steemit.

They COULD have done something...anything, to put the word out and show off the creative entities that are already on here, to entice the creatives leaving that platform and the general audience looking for a platform that will treat them like adults. and there COULD have had hundreds of thousands of new people on steemit...and thus learning about steem the crypto currency and thus causing the value of steem to rise...

instead, as I type this the current value is just under .19 USD

But who am I to say anything? What good is my opinion on creating growth anyways? Oh...I remember...I'm this guy

So anyways...lemme give you a quick progression through this commission...
The subject was - Popeye vs Cthulhu - specifically he wanted Popeye rowing out to combat Cthulhu, with plenty of cans of spinach to power up with.

I sent a couple of rough sketches...

He picked no.2 I'd say that was a good choice. I liked no.1 but only because it looked the easiest, haha.

anyways...off I went. here is the finished pencils

...yeah...I suck at photographing these things. Maybe my lighting is the issue? I dunno. but he's some progression of inking. this is 10x7 inches or so. All the inking done with a no.0 Windor Newton brush.

Popeye's spinach will not help him defeat the insane horror of the Great Old One,lol

I do not think that Steemit team will do anything to market the platform and bring new users and creatives to the platform. They did no do anything in the past and they lost so many good opportunities. Its all up to the different projects and communites to try on their own. It is a bummer indeed... About the trending page, i see from time to time a nice creative post poping up but nothing like it used to be 2 years ago. I believe that if the price goes up in a nice level we will see more creative activity. Or at least i hope so,lol

I also fear that Popeye is a bit out of his league.

"if the price goes up" ...I have little faith in that, without then getting thier heads out of their asses to promote the site. as you say, we can hope.

Not going to lie, I'd frame that and hang it on my wall. The sheer idea of Popeye being able to solo the Great Old One with nothing more than a hundred cans of spinach is hysterical. If nothing else, it makes for a great conversation starter in the, "Who would win in a fight to the death between...?" category. :)
