ARSENIC LULLABY-Judge Dredd and new issue

FIRST- There is a new issue of Arsenic Lullaby available. To make a long story short ( for now ) Diamond Distribution is the company that distributes pretty much ALL the comic books to ALL the stores. They have a catalogue called "previews" with all the stores order from. Unknown to me until just a few minutes ago when I was tagged on a post from a comic book store ( thanks @Burgcomics !) the new issue of Arsenic Lullaby was in the CURRENT CATALOG.

...no one told me...there was some confusion when I first sent the info to Diamond as to who was going to be handling my book, since the usual guy was no longer with the company, and near as I can tell they fast tracked it into the catalogue and probably everyone thought someone else was going to tell me.

...no one did, unless it ended up in my spam box.

SO...that puts me pretty far behind on plugging this thing and letting the whole world ( or as much of it as I can reach) know that they can order the book now.

SOOoooOOOOoo...IF YOU ARE A COMIC BOOK STORE OR GO TO ONE, PLEASE BE AWARE THAT MY LATEST BOOK IS UP FOR GRABS! FOR THAT MATTER TELL EVERYONE, like I said, I'm running behind.

NOW THEN...when last we left I had gotten a commission request for characters from the comic Judge Dredd and Captain Britain. I drew up a few options and the fellow chose two of them. This first one I just finished started as this quick sketch-

I'm not the biggest fan of all of my work. I do my best, but I am pron to overthinking and often refining the charm right out of things (even though everyone else likes them, and they are pretty damn well done...they usually are not as good as the image was in my head) but this sketch here ( possibly because I had no time to overthink it) is cool!

I had about three days to try to get two commissions done. That's plenty of time if you don't get all up in your own head, over think things, redo things, ect...so I did my best not to get all up in my own head.

ALTHOUGH, a tiny bit of overthinking was due. In this original sketch I have put the shoulder coverings of Judge Dredd and his adversary judge Death on the wrong sides. The bird is on the right shoulder. Just moving the bird was going to jack up the composition, so I reversed the whole image. That worked out fine.

I penciled it -

Not too shabby, I'd say!

Then started inking!

For whatever reason, fate, karma, the stars aligning, or simply me not having time to frett and worry, the inking went real smooth right from the start. The brushes where behaving, the ink wasn't too thin or too thick, my hands weren't shaking or struggling with the longer curved lines...things were just...going well.

And still going well...

this is turning out pretty sweet

and done!!

Damn...I'm actually pleased with this one.
