Movie news: The director of John Wick will make a movie based on the game The Ghost of Tsushima
As a big Samurai movie fan, I can't pass up such gorgeous news. Chad Stahelski, the talented stuntman and director of the John Wick action series, is out of control, announcing one project after another and announced this week that he will take on a movie based on the popular video game The Ghost of Tsushima.
The original game (which sold over 6.5 million copies worldwide!) is set in 1274, when the island of Tsushima was invaded and ravaged by the Mongol Empire. The protagonist is the warrior Jin Sakai, the last surviving member of his clan, and he will have to fight the superior forces of the Mongols, relying on samurai traditions and unusual methods of fighting.
Stahelski's 87Eleven Entertainment and Sony Pictures will produce the film, and the game's developer, Sucker Punch Productions, will serve as executive producer along with PlayStation Productions.
