Quick! Somebody pass me a Senzu bean! - My Struggle with Pain

Yeah dealing with chronic pain is not so glamorous

Coincidentally, it is my life and I've developed quite a few methods to cope. So, I have what is called degenerative disc disease which basically means my spinal discs are going to crap.

Now, if you ever heard the mind over matter concept, it only goes so far. I speak from experience as one who had doggedly defied my circumstances to continue to run my body as I had when I was younger but am quickly learning the cost is ever increasing.

It's a bummer that my chiropractor told me not to run anymore until my body heals so been sticking to the elliptical. In all frankness, I don't think that damaged discs ever do heal but I am optimistic that maybe science will be able to do something more in the future.

I sometimes joke about waiting on the Adamantium skeleton procedure or maybe I could go full-on GUNDAM or Iron Man-esque body suit. Recently, I've played around with the idea of a disabled superhero which I think is a concept that should be explored further.

Believe the concept is empowering to anybody that struggles with a condition that makes them feel less capable than their peers. But I also have a religious perspective and like to allude to Paul the Apostle on this one.

And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.

A thorn? Feels like I got 20!

I'm not trying to stack my troubles to the dear Apostle. Sometimes, a bit of perspective helps. I would imagine Paul would call me on my "weird flex" when we think about the big picture. Let's look at some things he endured from the Scriptural account. I quote 2nd Corinthians 11:24-26:

From the Jews five times I received forty stripes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods; once I was stoned; three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I have been in the deep; in journeys often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils of my own countrymen...

So, in retrospect, my struggles are not that bad.

While I wait for the Adamantium skeleton upgrade, just gotta take things in stride. Some days will be bad. Some days OK... But hey!

As long as I'm still breathing means I have a purpose yet to fulfill on this earth.

Perhaps, our adversity is the contrast to our strength. I often like to allude to reality being akin to a narrative. Without a struggle, there really is no story. We all have our struggle but what matters is what you do with it. Also, the adversity we pass through helps keep our egos in check. It's not always fun but it is something to be thankful.

Keep fighting the good fight and make your story remarkable

Quick update on SFR and Steem Dev stuff:

There had been some issues with Beem which I assume were related to the transition to HF 22. They appear to be resolved. I have successfully created a Blockchain stream script that I will be able to use for autocurating members on the @steemflagrewards whitelist when I am not around.

In other news, I had to reorder my server hard drives as come to find my order was voided on NewEgg. Would have been nice had they let me know but looks like it was done due to a price increase (to add insult to injury). Anyways, that's the big hold up to fulfilled my more grandiose vision of flag things for the Steem blockchain.

Once I get my server rebuilt onto my SSDs, it's game on.

So, I have what is called degenerative disc disease which basically means my spinal discs are going to crap.

Been living with this since 2016, it's called getting ancient and there's not a lot we can do.

Sitting down hurts, standing is better, lying down can hurt at times. It changes over the years, sometimes for the good, or otherwise.

My office just equipped me with a Varidesk which allows me to alternative from sitting and standing.

If you spend a lot of time at a desk, I would def recommend looking into it.

Another thing is a decompression belt. They have some on eBay that work great but, in my case,I gotta be careful with the placement. It seems I have the belt too low that it may mess with my hip issues.

The only downside is wearing the belt really reduces my stealth stats. I mean, when I let the air out of the belt, my boss can hear it from across the room! Forget it if I ever have to undo the Velcro. My cover would be totally blown!

Guess, I'll have to put my dreams of being a professional ninja to the side. Wasn't meant to be I guess.

Thanks for the comment and support brotha! 💪

They do that here, but only if your a permanent worker. I'm a dirty contractor and cant demand such things.

Your stealth stats?

Thanks for the comment and support brotha!

Likewise!

I know some people who have degenerative disk disorder, it looks painful as hell, I don't even want to think how it feels like, hope science finds a way to help you folks, probably something with stem cells.

Recently, I've played around with the idea of a disabled superhero which I think is a concept that should be explored further.

Yesterday I was thinking that we should have a tribe for comic book/manga creation, something similar to webtoons, where content creators got upvoted by token hodlers for their manga, the ad revenue would be distributed through buying and burning the token. The only reason I don't do this is because I'm not that big of a comic book reader, I mostly read manga and only read 2... It would be amazing for someone to do a tribe like this though.

Picturing Master Roshi starting a career as a psychotherapist to heal the team's inner wounds. Maybe King Kai would be a better fit though. 🤔

Have you tried kratom?

Or Scientology?
The Science of Survival is the book you are looking for.
Everytime I link to it the scientolgy lawyers get the link took down, so you gotta search for it now from that link.
I think it is on page 4.
Be very careful dealing with anybody connected to the church, they got some funny ideas about freedom.
But, the right one may be able to help you ease your pain.

Yes,actually.

Seems about the same mode of operation as my opiates but not as strong.

I may consider alternating as the last thing I want is to become too reliant on my paid medication as I've seen how destructive it can be. Had a relative OD years ago so I know it first hand.

I've try to suck it up some days and not take my meds but the problem is the effect the pain has on my mind. Can't focus worth a shit when I have that nagging pain.

As far as Scientology, I'd imagine they go for more holistic medicine which I am not against at all. Actually, my chiropractor recommended a few that seem to help. Some stuff called Nervagesic.

Also, just started with joint health supps and tumeric. Feel pretty decent today so going to stick with it.

Scientology recommends regular doctors, to avoid being sued.
However, some pain is not from actual physical damage.
Some persists because it was never put to rest with proper therapy.

Like I said, the tech looks good, but the people who put up with the church's crap are whacked.
I've had the time to read everything publicly available, and many years to grok it.
It has helped me keep things in some semblance of order.
It's mostly concerned with increasing the communication between cells, in your case.
I think they would recommend touch assists, which causes the cells on both sides of the problem area to communicate again.
But, I'm no expert at the practice.

I've heard good things about tumeric, and fully believe most ailments are caused by poor nutrition.

Thanks! I'll look into it. My brother actually suffers from lupus so, who knows, may be something he could benefit from.

It's rough on him. He tries his best to fight it by doing thing like rock climbing and competitive Smash Bros (Melee) but I know sometimes that disease kicks his ass.

He's got a good attitude though. Thanks for the comment. Sorry that Bernie has got you on his shit list. Not a fan of that crap.
