What account will I give him?

But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. 12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

~Rom 14:10-12

Reading this scripture this morning got me thinking as I meditated on it. One question crept into my mind: What account will I give him?
There is coming a day that we will all stand before God and give an account of what we did with the life he gave us. It got me thinking on what I will tell God. Thinking on this, I realized I am still not sure what I will say is enough. It go me wondering if I am ready enough to meet him?

Thinking on these things, I realize there are so many things I could do, should have done in some cases and have to do. I pray he forgives me in the areas I failed him and fell short of his expectations and help me daily to do that which pleases him. As I pondered even further on this question, I began to identify some of the areas I am failing at. My desire is that God helps me to fix these areas quickly. I also realized, that no matter how far you might have come with God, there is always room to become better because we are all working towards perfection.

So why waste time judging others when you have your own self to deal with? It is still fascinating to see how some modern day pharisees specialize in judging and condemning others even in the church of God of this day. But if only they will stop for a minute to examine themselves, they will discover there is still much work to be done. Why therefore judge others when we will all stand before the judgment seat of Christ?
Are you even righteous enough to judge or point a finger at others?
How can a sinner saved by grace judge another?

As I continued to ponder on this question of the account I will give God of my life, something came to mind. In our World today, we work so hard and put in so much effort to make a document called a resume or CV the best and stand out. This document is what attracts employers to hiring you. We all know how important it is to your career and we do everything to make it the best. I likened our lives to a CV which God will use to determine our eternal destination. How ironic it is to see the time we put into our resumes that will get us the job but when it comes to our lives, the resume that determines our eternal destination, we care very little about it.

Your life is the resume you will present to God. Except for this one, everything about you will be contained in it and I mean every detail. H

Have you worked on making it the best?

How much time do we put in looking at our lives and ammending those areas that are not pleasing to God?
How much time do we commit to service to God, spending time with him or in his presence?
What are we doing for him or is your life just about you? Is it not funny to see how some of us are so caught up in our busy schedules that we allocate no time to God. Some Christians even go as far as arguing that going to church is not necessary to being a Christian just so to get more time to dedicate to their work and other things.

What account will you give him?

Are you going to tell him how you spent your life busy with your work, having fun and enjoying yourself with your friends, having a successful career, living your dreams?
Is that all you have to show him for the life he gave you? A life that was lived for you and you alone? A life where he God was completely out of the picture? A life where everything else except him was important?

These are all questions that came pouring into my mind as I thought of what I will tell him if I was to stand before him. The truth is, I am not sure if I am ready to meet him. I want to be sure and I want you to be sure too. That is why we need to put more effort into our relationship with him. Let's run back to God and put him as our highest priority. If he is your priority, then you will always make time for him. Let him direct your life and you won't regret it.

Work on your relationship with God and remain blessed. Amen

Goodbye for now...
