Today was yet again a wonderful time in the presence of God. From the beginning of the service to the worship, the word and the end prayer, everything was just so spirit filled and I bless God for giving me the opportunity to be part of the service of today. Going to the service of today, I had a not so fruitful week and things didn't go as I expected but God kept telling me somehow that he is on the move and that was all I needed.

And when the man of God mounted the pulpit and again centered his message on the theme God is doing something new, I just knew God was talking to me again and that reassured me once more of his word. It is so wonderful to see God reaching us in different ways and using different mediums just to make sure we get his message for us. I bless him and I thank him for his love and guidance in my life. I don't ever want to lose it and I want to hold on to that even if I lose all. His Lordship over my life is a necessity.

Why is my case different?

At some points in my Christian life, circumstances force me to start asking questions and one of the most common one is: why is my case different?
For example, a friend and I registered for this on call work, the week we had exams in school, we received calls almost everyday to come work but we both declined. The next week was reading week and we were totally free to work. While my friend still received call-ups, I got nothing. And every time I called the agency, they will just tell me nothing was available.

It was so frustrating me that I will ask myself why is my case different? So many times as Christians, we find ourselves constantly struggling to achieve. Things that seem so easy for others, we fight and put in so much effort to get it. Sometimes it just feels like the whole World is against you or something. Things that are so easy for other people always become difficult and complicated in your own case. You ask yourself why is this happening to me? Everything seems silent and you can't seem to hear God speaking.

The reason behind it all

In the book of Job in the bible, we see a devout man that is faithful to God and God describes this man as perfect and without blame. Each time I read this book, I ask myself if God can say the same about me. But here is a man who loves God and keeps his commands. The devil does everything he can to bring this man down and to cause him to curse God. From this story and example, we see that the devil opposes all that is good and you being a Christian puts you as number one target. The devil is so interested in bringing you down and will resist every good thing that comes your way.

As a Christian, you are not just like other people and never expect things to go your way as it does other people. Your adversary the devil goes about like a hungry Lion seeking whom he may devour. All hell is against everything concerning you and will do all to stop it. That is why I have come to endure difficult times knowing that hell is only resisting something good that is coming my way. The word also makes me to understand that if I resist the devil, he will flee and I will get that which he is trying to hinder me from getting.

Job resisted him to the end and got a double portion of what he had lost in the midst of his ordeal. God allows us to go through some difficult moments to use it for his glory. That supports the fact that he is doing something new in your life in the midst of it all. That's why throughout this week, when I thought everything was not working, all I kept hearing in my spirit was God is on the move and I held on to that.

The good news in all of this

Jesus talking to his disciples one day asked them: who do men say I am?
They gave different answers but Peter under the influence of the holy spirit revealed him as the messiah. Jesus went ahead to say he will build his church on that revelation of who he is and the gates of hell will not prevail. My emphasis is the gates of hell not prevailing. You see, as a child of God, hell will oppose every promise of God, blessing of God upon your life as earlier established. But the good news is, they will not prevail brothers and sisters. That is the good news for us because greater is he that is in me than he who is in the world.

Old things have passed away and all things are become new. God is doing a new thing in your life through that difficulty, pain, depression, lack, joblessness, sickness, loss etc. Believe it and hang in there. The tides are about to change for your good and I encourage you to hand in there and hold on to his word. He is not a man that he should lie. He is the God that honours his word above his own name. Believe it and hold on to it and it shall be well with thee.

Remain blessed and keep pushing on. What is impossible with men is possible with our God.
