The importance of your association (continued)

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful, but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law, he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper. - Psalm 1:1-3

The company you keep can bring about negative transformation just as it can influence positive transformation in your life as we discussed yesterday. Your association can nick in the bud, all the great things God has planned for you. Rehoboam in 1Kings 12, is a case in point. He had just become king over the united nation of Israel when the nation came to him seeking reassurances that he would treat them well. He was given wise counsel by his late father’s cabinet, but he chose to disregard their counsel and rather listened to what his circle of friends told him. He went from ruling over 12 tribes to barely managing to hold on to 2. His association ended up changing the trajectory of his life for the worse. Don’t let this happen to you; avoid toxic relationships! Some people are going nowhere, and they are looking for co-travellers. Filter your relationships through the prism of purpose. Remember, destiny is not emotional, and purpose is not too.
