Reflecting a greater light

There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon - 1Corinthians 15:41.

The sun is a luminous celestial body. This basically means that it generates and emits its own light. When you see the sun, the light and heat emanating from it are all its own. The moon, on the contrary, while also visible in the sky (mainly at night), is a non-luminous body. All of its light comes from another source; the sun. It just reflects what it receives. Did you know though, that the moon is not the only such body in the sky? There are literally billions of such non-luminous bodies in the sky that we never get to see but we see the moon regularly. Why? Because it is rightly positioned.

By virtue of its orbit around the earth, which in turn orbits around the sun, the moon receives almost constant light from the sun, and so, it shines! If you want to constantly reflect the glory of God, you need to maintain your orbit around Him. Don't be a free-flying piece of space debris; those never shine, or they shine momentarily and burn out fast. Stay in relationship with Him. Stay in fellowship with the body of believers. Being transformed to reflect His glory only happens when you stay anchored to Him.
