Your Eyes or His? – Proverbs 3:7-8
Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear YHWH and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.
Do not be wise in your own eyes. Every time I read this verse I’m reminded of Proverbs 26:12. “Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.”
What does it mean to be wise in your own eyes? It’s thinking we have it figured out. Not willing to receive instruction but would rather be the one instructing. It’s OK to think you have the answer to something. Yet, be willing to consider another’s perspective.
Our verse then says to fear YHWH and shun evil. Proverbs 8:13 says to fear YHWH is to hate evil. So our verse could read there “Hate evil and shun evil.” But what does it mean to shun? It means to persistently avoid, ignore, or reject. To completely turn away from.
In a world that is filled with evil all around, this is definitely a difficult task. However, it’s do-able. It depends on your willingness and determination to be separate from this world we live in.
Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.

This also takes a conscious effort. I don't think there's much considering of other’s perspectives going on either. lol. Everyone thinks what they think is correct even if it's lunacy!
