Sunday service of today

Today was my first Sunday here in the new land and what a service we had. It was an awesome service today and being the first service of the month, it was a thing of beauty. The topic of discussion was WISDOM and we started by defining wisdom as the acquisition of knowledge, understanding and application of the knowledge in the life of the believer. S9 conclusively, it can be summarized as acquiring knowledge, understanding the knowledge acquired and finally applying what you've acquired and understood.

We also saw it clearly that there is the wisdom of the world and there is divine wisdom. The wisdom of 5he world conforms to the flesh and satisfies the cravings of the flesh while divine wisdom conforms with the word of God thus satisfying the cravings of the spirit. Thus, the world in its wisdom will see certain things as ok and right behavior or way of life but divine wisdom might lead one to think otherwise. So, Christian's are encouraged to forget about what the world has to offer and should resist the wisdom of the world.

We went ahead to also identify sources of wisdom with the principal source being the word of God and other sources were parents, spiritual mentors, elderly people, teachers etc. These group of people were seen as people who could deliver good counsel that is wise and true. Not everybody out there can give wise counsel and it is therefore important that we beware of the people we run to for help. There is a saying that a blind man cannot lead another blind man. So, only one that can see can show a blind man the way.

In all, it was good sermon and It gave me an assignment to study the word more, meditate more on it and to practically apply the knowledge I gain to completely attain divine wisdom. I also met new brethren who received me warmly and joyfully and we also shared a meal together as a church and one happy family when the service was over. I really enjoyed the fellowship and it was joyful spending another day in the presence of the Lord and my new brethren.
